On a recent Spring evening, we joined our friends, K & B, for dinner at Daniel Boulud’s famed Michelin *** restaurant, Daniel in New York City. Just read what the New York Times had to say about it.
First on the agenda….one of their signature cocktails, the Cosmo Blanc, which I had seen head bartender, Xavier Herits, whip up on the Today Show ~ watch him make it here! It has a splash of St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur ( which goes nicely with champagne) and the most amazing frozen orchid ice ball.
We started with an amuse bouche that looked like this before it left the kitchen. (I just couldn’t bring myself to photograph during our meal!)
After our amazing dinner, which really is “splurge worthy”, we got to step behind the scenes into the kitchen and Daniel’s office (the crow’s nest) with Maitre D’Hotel, Elvir Dzananovic. Here’s a little of what we saw.
We did get to meet the charming Daniel, but alas no picture this time. Perhaps on our next visit. I’m sure we’ll be back!
So, as we said good night to our friends, Elvir found us a cozy seat in the bar for one last Cosmo Blanc, a la Carrie Bradshaw in SATC.
Which reminds me, if you want to end a perfect night on a sweet note in the city’s most elegant Bar & Lounge, check out Daniel’s Cocktails And Confections offering.
(pssst…..next week I’ll be doing my first give away!)
What a comprehensive review! Worth bookmarking. Marija
My most memorable would have to be in France – but in NY – I have a few – depends on the type of cuisine.
I love "buffet de la Gare" in Hastings – reminds me of life in France. The attention to details and the classic menu are all inspiring.

thank you for your delicious posting! Through my good friend Dutch culinary journalist/author Lise Goeman Borgesius I have been really lucky. Last week we were in Paris together and had private dining at Laurent at the Champs Elysees. I have also been fortunate to have been at the Librije (Netherlands) with 3 Michelin star chef Jonnie Boer as I illustrated 5 of his recipes.
Marija~thank you! I hope it will be an experience you can share or pass alon.
PVE ~ details make the meail, don't they!
Mariska~you are indeed a lucky woman ~ those sound like amazing experiences!
Oh wow. That drink looks amazing! Everything actually looks amazing… Looks like you had a wonderful time.
D.O.~ it even tastes amazing….which is why I had to have "just one more" before we left! It's definitely worth popping into the bar sometime if you're in nyc!!
