Most of my lunches are on the fly ~ so imagine how much fun it was to join my friend, K, and a group of her favorite mothers (including her own!) for a luncheon celebrating Mother’s Day at her home! The handwritten invitation was light pink layered upon hot pink ~ giving me a hint of what was to come.
Those who know K, know what an amazing cook she is. These ricotta with lemon, basil & honey on bruschetta appetizers were SO fresh. This is a perfect appetizer for a warm weather gathering. Here’s the recipe, but K advises adding more lemon zest than the recipe calls for.
Hem stitched white linen napkins were wrapped around utensils with pink beaded napkin rings to make it easy for the guests to fill their own plate from the buffet and sit anywhere they liked.
Good parties have good endings. Here was the beginning of what would be strawberry shortcakes!
Parting isn’t such sweet sorrow when you have a little treat to take with you ~ K was inspired by a Mother’s Day luncheon detailed in May’s Traditional Home. Her party favors were these darling boxes of Paulette Macarons, available in 12 classic and seasonal flavors.
Thank you, K, for your friendship and a peek into what makes you such a marvelous hostess! I hope YOU had an amazing Mother’s Day!
Wouldn’t it be fun to gather your favorite mom friends next Mother’s Day? Or for that matter, why wait?!
