First up…Butch Bakery cupcakes. It satisfies his sweet tooth and his machismo!
Just read their Butch Man-ifesto:
“Our objective is simple. We’re men. Men who like cupcakes. Not the frilly pink-frosted sprinkles and unicorns kind of cupcakes. We make manly cupcakes. For manly men.”
Butch Bakery, located in NYC, has 12 delicious flavors and 6 different chocolate discs – choose from: Woodland Camo, Wood Grain, Hounds tooth, Plaid, Checkerboard or Marble.
This gift is a home run!
Tokens & Icons has created a business by breathing new life into things that already existed. In this case, the cuff links above are from a game ball used in a Los Angeles Angels vs New York Yankees game. How do I know? Each cuff link has a number of authenticity on the back.
Shhhhh….This is what I’m giving Grant for Father’s Day!
Your guy’s not a baseball fan? They have cuff links made from golf balls, collegiate footballs (think Notre Dame) and basketballs (used at Madison Square Garden).
If your guy doesn’t do french cuffs….how about a bottle opener made with the Plexiglas from their favorite hockey rink?
There are many more items that will suit any dad….go browse around! You’ll knock it out of the park and him out of his easy chair!
Looking good….smelling good!
Grant actually discovered this one on his own….but what’s great about this Anthony blue chamomile body wash is that not only will your guy love it….so will you! I’ve been known to forgo my Molton Brown body wash in favor of this!
At the end of the day….it’s not about the BBQ or the gifts…it’s about recognizing all the moments that your dad:
- drove you to soccer practice
- taught you how to drive a stick shift
- carried you when you sprained your ankle for the 10th time
- listened to you cry over another bad date
- took you out to lunch…just because
- walked you down the aisle
Or watching you husband:
- teach your son how to ride a horse
- cheer him on at his Little League game
- understand that sports aren’t his first love
- set up the fire pit, so that they could have s’mores….again
Happy Father’s Day to my dad, to Grant and all the wonderful dads out there! This hug is for you!!
What great memory do you have of your father?
xo, Elizabeth
(aka Liz, as my Dad calls me)
Smiling, here, because my daughter's name is Elizabeth and the ONLY one who was first permitted to call her LIZ was MY dad! I just always remember feeling safe when my dad was around…whether it was jumping off the side of the pool into his arms or knowing when I went to sleep at night that he would protect us, he was there….and still is, at 71, although we live a far distance from each other. Thanks for all of the great ideas! xx Suzanne
great ideas!!! i even got a little teary when reading about the dad moments. xoxo
The plexiglass bottle opener from a favorite hockey rink would be a sure fire hit in this household, and while my dad and my husband never had to suffer through many hockey games, they show up for every other event that takes place with a smile on their face and a cheer!
I think the best memory of my Dad is that he is always happy to hear from me, to see me, and to spend time listening to me. Now how is that for the best Father!

Elizabeth! Where do you find these things! Butch Bakery…so fabulous! Thank goodness that I know you now in "real life" will be coming to you for all of my gift giving inspiration from now on! 🙂
Suzanne – that's too funny! So glad that you still have your dad around!
Bentley – thx!!
Buzz – Dads (and Grandads) make the best cheering section!
pve – yes, he sounds like the best dad ever!!
Zhush – isn't Butch Bakery the funniest! I just love their approach – so different! Why can't a guy love a cupcake? 🙂
xo, Elizabeth
Fabulous list of ideas…so different and so fun! I especially love the cuff links, although my husband is not into watching sports, but rather doing them himself.
Father's Day is a hard one. I love my Daddy and husband both so much but neither one really wants anything. Wish I were more like that. Thanks for the ideas. When you get a chance come check out my party post in honor of The Design Challenge that The Shiny Pebble just did. I have a couple of links in it to you. Mona
lovely post. i wrote mine on father's day last week. not nearly as sweet, let me tell ya.
i have been wanting to get my husband those cufflinks for years. and i don't know why i don't do it! i guess i always forget. thanks for the reminder. he's a HUGE cubbies fan and would love wrigley field ones…..
love the pic of your man with your son riding a horse. those moments are what make life sweet, right?
i'm lucky to have an AWESOME dad. he always took me on "dates" growing up. I'd get to pick the restaurant or he'd surprise me. One time we went to the Fairmont downtown to see Larry Gatlin play in the Pyrmaid room. I was about 8 years old, and got all dressed up. We spent a lot of time together. He took me fishing, hunting (remember, i'm in TX), and every December for the last 30 years or so he & I go to the downtown Neimans to go shopping and eat lunch together.
I think one of the most special things he did with me though was when I was 19 I wanted to go to NYC to see Phantom of the Opera. He knew this so as a surprise, he booked a trip just me and him and we stayed at the Waldorf, ate at 21 and other chi-chi places, went to shows, went to museums, and went shopping. He even arranged for a limo one night. That was really pretty neat and special. It is also when I learned that he is a SUPER LOUD snorer, but i'll take that anyday if it means I can spend weekends together like that. Next time, i'll just bring earplugs. 🙂
xoxo
happy fathers day to your family as well.
