Ahhhh….Robin’s Egg Blue. What is it about this color that is simultaneously so calming and chic? I just know that I love it and by the looks of things out there, so do a lot of you.
As much as I love the color, I had no idea that’s what I would find in a nest that was built under the umbrella that shades our outdoor dining table.
3 times…yes, 3 times I tried to move the nest before mama Robin laid her eggs. But, she and papa Robin were very diligent and determined. And, I am so very glad that they were.
The nest was right outside my kitchen window, so I did enjoy watching the eggs hatch, one by one….and fly away. As little birds do.
And as much as I enjoyed this little spring ritual…I’d prefer for the Robin’s to pick a different location next year.
So, off I went to my local garden center, where I saw a number of darling birdhouses.
This weekend, mine was finally installed in our side yard.
So, while it’s for the birds…it’s also for me.
What do you think about the color Robin’s Egg Blue?

Well, smart bird to feather her nest in that umbrella at your gracious home!
One of my favorite colors. If you love bird houses, I have the perfect book for you. We must meet at "Wave Hill" next rendez-vous. There are a plethora of bird houses and a lovely garden shop too.

We had a persistent family of Robin's in our plum tree. For three years we would move their nest that they built right next to the stairs into our pool. Our resourseful Mama Robin would rebuild the sturdiest new nest with in one day and deliver her pretty little eggs before we could move it again then she would dive-bomb us entil the little darlings flew the coup…..Annoying, yes, but beautiful to watch all the same. I love Robin's Egg Blue.
What a wonderful birdhouse, with a copper roof no less! Robin's Egg Blue always reminds me of Tiffany boxes – as they say, great things come is small packages… Can't wait to meet you!

Beautiful color!! I don't use it much (I don't wear blue or use a lot of blue in decor…for an unknown reason)…but it does catch my eye! That birdhouse is great…love the copper roof!
PVE-I love that you know exactly where to go. My grandmother was crazy about birds….always knew what kind they were, etc…I think I may have picked up a little of that love.
Mrs. G – Isn't if funny how very determined (and smart) those little birds are. 🙂
Buzz- I agree—Tiffany Blue is a color any girl can love when it arrives in that box with a little white ribbon. So excited to meet!
Flair – it's funny…I don't wear it all, but it is an accent color in my bedroom and master bath. Must be the soothing element. I loved that little copper roof, too! 🙂

Happy Monday, Elizabeth! Those little gems of eggs that were gifts for your pleasure are so beautiful they almost don't look real; except for the nest and the little birdies flying off, of course. Love that color; I especially loved the image of the bridal party with the contrasting flowers.
Best,
Colleen
I love this shade of blue! Do you think the robins can fit through the holes in your birdhouse?
It's a lovely color and it's great fun to have a ring-side seat of nesting birds. However, you won't get robins to nest in your new birdhouse. What you put up is a purple martin house. Purple martins nest in multiples – kind of like condo living. Robins nest singly.
Hi Cindy,
Oh goodness! Well, I have to admit I love the birdhouse, so hopefully it will be a condo filled party for those purple martins. I guess the Robins and I will have to work something else out next year! 🙂
I do love the color! It is so happy and vibrant. I prefer it in bedrooms and in small doses as an accent when it comes to interiors and clothing. I love an all white outfit with a pop of robin's egg blue jewelry!!
I have had doves nest and lay eggs right outside my door, and it is so amazing to have such special house guests!
I loved meeting you this past weekend!
I have added you to my blog list.

Visual Vamp – how wonderful…they are very special house guests indeed! I loved meeting you as well – what a night! I'll honored to be on your blog roll – and you are on mine as well!

Love the color and your images were oh so pretty. But, the best shade were those gorgeous REAL eggs. What a treat. The birdies will certianly like thier new birdhouse – excellent choice.
I can't believe those are real eggs, I guess I've never seen Robin's eggs before! Amazing! I love the photo of the the blue and coral bridesmaid dresses, what a luscious combo and your new birdhouse is pretty spectacular and looks perfect! Great job… a win win for you and the birds.
Have the best week Elizabeth.
How pretty – love the color! Bet those robins come back to the exact same spot next year – shelter & gracious host — perfect spot
How lucky are you to have the nest right outside your kitchen window! a favorite color of ours for sure!

Grammercy -amazing color, right?
La Dolfina – aren't those dresses/flowers a great combo? I was not so creative. My poor bridesmaids wore eggplant (purple). 🙂
Stitchfork – I'll bet you're right — they'll probably come right back same time/same spot!
E+J – I found that I have more of that color in my home than I realized!!

How on earth did you take that amazing photo of the nest? Those eggs are just gorgeous! Ditto your new birdhouse!
Dovecote entirely approves of this post, as we named our blog after a bird house!! Robins egg blue makes me feel like I am in a tiffany box, very comforting!
Just jaw-dropping,
Elizabeth!!!
And to think, the
most beautiful of
these robin's egg
blues are truly
from….the robins!
My bridesmaid's wore
TEAL ~ it was oh-so
chic back in 1986!
Happy Monday : )
xx Suzanne
Zhush – Had to stand on the table to get the shot! 🙂
Dovecote – I am embarrassed to admit it, but until recently, I didn't know that a dovecote was actually a little built in area for dove's on a house. My neighbor has one – a house built in the 30s.
Prviet – Isn't nature amazing? Teal was HOT in the 80s!!! 🙂

Isn't mother nature amazing? The most beautiful colors and we have all been inspired by them. I think you should consider yourself very blessed that the robins have honored you with the birth of their family. The bridesmaids dresses and bouquets are beautiful.
Very pretty post to view. Thank you.
I had a delightfully similar problem earlier this summer over our back door. I could never get the nest removed before yet another brood was laid. Beautiful post and I love robin's egg blue.
