While out to dinner recently, Grant (who is something of a wine connoisseur) ordered a delicious bottle of wine. Imagine my surprise when I asked what we were drinking….and I see the name Flowers! Love the name, but I really loved the taste.
Further research revealed that this is indeed a delicious 2007 wine, rated 94 by Wine & Spirits magazine.
The couple behind this wine and others bearing the Flowers Winery name are Walt and Joan Flowers, former nursery owners from Pennsylvania. (You can’t make this stuff up!). They had long desired to combine their love of wine with their passion for agriculture. In 1989, they found the perfect spot along the northern Sonoma Coast.
Above are photos from this celebrated winery, producing 15,000 cases a year of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Cheers to fresh flowers on the table and in our glasses!
Happy weekend!

How could you go wrong with a cute story like that? CA Pinots are my new favorite, so will definitely give this one a try! Have a good weekend!
PVE – that's cute…in vases and in glasses!
Izzy – The taste testers said this was one to order by the case!
Cheers to you both! Elizabeth
This is one of my favorite wines. Love the post. Happy weekend!
Oh, love the story and seeing the vineyard! I am from Virginia and grew up around a lot of beautiful vineyards…fun to go around on a wine tasting! Will check out the Flowers Pinot Noir!
One of my favorite Chardonnays! Did you see our Necessary Luxury for July last year? Great minds certainly think alike!
Kate, I loved your post today with Lisa!!!! And, am so glad this is one of your favorite wines, too!
Flair – I love a vineyard…we enjoyed going up to the Wine Country a lot when we lived in SF. I check your blog daily….but since it doesn't allow for comments, just wanted you to know!
Buzz – Carolyn, I did not see that…how funny when we're all on the same page!!
Cheers! Elizabeth
Wow, that description is quite a tribute to all things mother nature gives to us! Thank goodness it's been bottled and appropriately named 🙂 I will have to write this one down. Glad you had the pleasure my dear!
Flowers is one of my all time favorite wines! And not just b/c I can pronounce it! 🙂
Flowers red with black tea and pink grapefruit — will have to try this!
With a review like this and comments from your readers giving the thumbs up, I think stopping to pick "Flowers" is necessary for a Hamptons weekend! Cheers to your night out this evening. I'll see you next week!
When I'm in wine
country….anywhere….
I always dream of
becoming a vintner….
and living among
the vines! We drove
through some Oregon
wine country on our
way to the coast three
days ago and yep, out
popped that dream.
THIS couple actually
made it happen. Of
course, their nursery
background was obviously
a big help! Love the
idea of "drinking
flowers." Beautiful!
Hope your weekend is
also beautiful, Elizabeth.
xx Suzanne
Wine country! How beautiful!

Great tip, thanks! I am having a surprise birthday party for my cousin in September and I am going to have all kinds of wonderful flowers, so now I will add these to the mix.
Wishing you a lovely weekend,
Colleen

Lovely! I spend a lot of time in Sonoma County. I will have to find this wine. Thank you.
I LOVE Flowers wines. Their tasting room is right across the street from our friend's house in St. Helena! Oh great now you have made me thirsty for some Flowers Chardonnay 🙂 I don't have to wait for Friday do I??
Love the word oenophile 🙂 I love a glass of wine or prosecco in the evening. I'd definitely try this if it were available in Europe! I'm your newest follower, I look forward to reading more!
