Yesterday in NYC, Nate Berkus taped the first episode of his new show….and I was there. Television history in the making!
I joined bloggers, Lisa of Hamptontoes, Sue of the The Zhush, Carolyn (and twin sister Cynthia) of The Buzz for Diane James, Marissa of Stylebeat, Barbara of Hampton Hostess, Liz of Shorely Chic, Kelly of Life at Five Feet and Kelsey of Bugs and Bears for the inaugural taping.
Rounding out our group was stylist and editor, Stacy Kunstel of Dunes and Duchess and House Beautiful editor, Whitney Robinson – who writes the “must read” column, The Best! ( I confessed to Whitney that I tear those pages out of every issue to add to my Style File!)
Lisa, Sue and me
Nate was as adorable in person as you think he will be. I was thrilled to shake his hand and look into those kind blue eyes….while Lisa, who had submitted a short video on her son’s room, sat next to Nate as he asked her about the key design elements in the room. Watch for her when the show airs!!
Another highlight was Nate’s pre-show, heartfelt thank you to everyone for being at this first taping. His beautiful mother, Nancy, was there along with a group of family friends who knew Nate growing up in Minnesota. They were staying for the 2nd taping and then joining him at his apartment for a celebratory glass of wine! A true cheering section!
You can tell that Nate put a lot of thought into the set design…and is proud of the results. And he asked the audience what they thought of the segments between taping. He was a complete pro — he’s going to be great!
Check your local listings….The Nate Berkus Show begins airing September 13th. Or better yet, email firstname.lastname@example.org to get tickets to an upcoming taping.
Break a leg, Nate!
