I’m in an Empire State of Mind these days.
The city is bustling again and I’m heading there tomorrow. I also have friends from my high school days who will be visiting the city from Texas next week. And, finally…..I visited the Empire State Building last week (for the first time).
The lines were SO long. And there wasn’t just 1 line….there were many. But, we got to skip them. Every one. Because my husband had been smart enough to splurge for the Express Tickets. If you are planning to visit this iconic landmark any time soon…..buy the Express Tickets, online, ahead of time. I promise….once you walk by all the people waiting and waiting and waiting…..you will be glad.
There’s nothing you can’t do, now you’re in New York
These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you
Let’s hear it for New York, New York, New York

What’s your state of mind?
You have no idea how much I adore the Empire State Building. My very first full time job, was on the 51st floor for Darlington Fabrics, the Textile Mill was located in Rhode Island, so I would take the train up every so often and coming back to NY and the Empire State felt like home to me. I had a view of the Twin Towers and every day it felt like I was sitting on top of the world at the age of 22. It was an incredible NY experience.
Your husband deserves a medal, an express medal!
What a dear to reserve express tickets!
Enjoy your time in the big APPLE!!

Enjoy the city and kudos to your husband for his well thought out game plan! I always say that I'm blessed to have lived and now lived close by, the place I consider to be the greatest city in the world.
Have a wonderful time!
I'm hoping to sneak into the city for a little shopping before the holidays are upon us. Thanks for express tip.

hmmm, thinking it's been way too long since I have trekked to the city. Express tickets – brilliant and worth every penny!
You give the best advice/tips along with the best giveaways, etc! So happy I know you! xx
I so love love love NYC!
I am still bitter about my trip there this summer being cancelled :O(
Thanks for the ticket tip – we stood in line for ages…in February…with a baby…not fun! The I got to the top and was one of those people with their back to the wall looking close to faining or throwing up lol! Old age has provided me with a severe case of vertigo!
Enjoy your time in the big city! Can't wait to see your photos!
Those Express Tickets are so key, unless you know someone who works in the building itself! I'm in a "back to school, back to work" state of mind but can't wait for my next day in the Big Apple.
I love visiting NYC but don’t know if I could handle living there. I some posts last week about my bday weekend in the city. Have a great time!!! xx
Great photos! Enjoy!

Great photos!
The Empire State Building is one of my favorite buildings. My senior prom was even held there in the ground floor restaurant cabaret called The Riverboat; WAY back in the day, 1976. I am very disappointed that they are going to allow another bulding to be built so close to this iconic NY landmark.
Best,
Colleen
I just had my first trip to NYC this summer (I know, I know) and it was amazing. The energy and creativity is just palpable…I vowed to make it a yearly trip…now I know to get express tickets!
LOVE your blog.

Ohhhh, there is nothing like NYC, especially in the fall. I was just there today and I didn't want to leave. Lets meet there for a margarita! Zarelas perhaps? Some of the best in town. XO
I LOVE New York. We usually come in November but it's not working out this year. I'm so sad. Will just have to work on another time.
I love hearing everyone's experiences in NY and especially at this amazing landmark. I always thought it was "too touristy" to go to when I actually lived in nyc. But, now, I have to admit….I'm so happy knowing, and being able to say, I've been there!
And, did someone say Margaritas???? Bentley? Just say when and where!

On my list of things to see and do once I'm in NY! 🙂
It's funny how you mentioned that you avoided it b/c of the touristy aspect. I always stayed away from tourist spots in Toronto before moving to FL. I saw going up in the CN tower as something you did when you were just visiting. Some friends and I decided to be tourists for a day every so often in our own city and we had so much fun. We would go out to Niagara Falls every summer and it was a lot of fun also.
Now that I live in Orlando, one place I do try to avoid is Disney and the theme parks-they are a blast but like you said, if you don't get express passes, you'll wait in line forever! It's very much worth it for all of the parks here too.
Have a wonderful weekend!
