Each fall, for many years now, I find myself longing to escape to Twin Farms, in Barnard, VT. I first heard of this magical place more than a decade ago, when I lived in Dallas. That was before the idea of living on the East Coast had even occurred to me. Funny how life takes you places you don’t expect.
Now, I am a mere 5 hour drive from this all-inclusive, top rated small resort (as reported by both Robb Report and Conde Nast).
I know it’s beautiful any time of year, but my yearning is to visit during the crimson and fiery colored “changing of the leaves”.
Our anniversary is November 21st….so if not this year, perhaps another.
Do you have a dream destination?

Golly Tamale Elizabeth! THAT is fan-tabulous!! I really enjoyed looking at these pictures.
You're so right about life taking you for a ride. We think dreams are crazy, but life can really one up any given day 🙂
I dream of all things tropical…surprise-pursprise since my fav season is summer!
If you go, I can't wait to see your pictures and relish in your dream come true 🙂
XO,
Kelly
This looks like a perfect place to celebrate an anniversary. Hope you get to go!

I have a list too of places to go and to see. Some of my favorite spots have provided wind in our sails for raising twins!
Hope you make this trip and anniversary special!

My favorite faraway destination was South Africa…amazing! Truthfully, the Hamptons are pure love to me and I feel so grateful to be able to call the close-by escape home! I've heard of Twin Farms so many times…I think I'm going to look into right now!
Oh my, how beautiful. We got married in VT. There is something so cozy and comforting about VT in the fall and winter. I will have to keep this place in mind. XO
I have spent alot of time in Vermont in all four seasons. I love that place. And I know exactly where Barnard is. It has Silver Lake State Park and a great General store. It's out of the way and most beautiful.
Hope you make it there soon.
Cape May, NJ. It's so not what one expects out of New Jersey. Just found your site through Hamptontoes. I love it. I am your newest follower!
Fall would be my time of year there — cooler temps and beautiful colors!
(Mentioned your hometown of Dallas in my post today!)
Good morning, lovelies! So happy you all stopped by! A special welcome to A House and Home, a first time visitor. Come back soon!!
xoxo Elizabeth
This is on my very very short list of places to visit…have heard SUCH great things! xx
Ooo I am going to check this place out! I want to go back to VT and even tho we enjoyed where we stayed last time…it's always fun to have options :O)
I hope you are having a great week!
I usually head to New Hampshire and use Hanover as my home base.
My best friend's family has a place on a lake in NH so whenever I venture up to New England that is where I gravitate. This looks spectacular….off to check out their site. On my "to do" list is L'Auberge du Soleil in Napa. We stayed at the sister resort Calistoga Ranch last time we were there (pre 28 month old) and I am dying to go back!
How Magical! I can see why it is a place you would like to go….especially during the changing of the leaves. I will just admire from afar:) –Gretchen O.
This is a dream destination – I hear they have an amazing hot water spring grotto – very sexy for an anniversary weekend!
What a gorgeous place to be a Leafer! I love VT! XX!
I also love Woodstock Inn and Castle Hill Resort. xx, Kate
I have always wanted to go there, but have really questioned if it was worth the price tag. Another absolutely dreamy New England getaway that's a little closer to you is Blantyre in Lenox, MA. It's like stepping into a Fitzgerald novel. The food is to die too. But I hope you get your anniversary wish to go to Twin Farms and you share it all with us!
It's a dream of mine as well. Each year I proclaim this will be the year … then life gets in the way.

I have always loved the talented Jed Johnson's design for Twin Farms – the tearsheets are still in my files. I have a lucky friend who goes every year and says it is fabulous. So hopefully you will get to see it for yourself.
I have been out of town and just catching up with some blogs. I have heard of Twin Farms and always thought it would be an exquisite place to visit. Maybe someday. I'm sure you will make it there soon…either this November or next. They will be waiting to greet you!
