My dad is arriving tomorrow from Dallas….so I’m getting the table set for a fall feast.
I chose flower arrangements with magnolia leaves, berries, purple calla lilies and light green hydrangeas to play off the dark brown of my Spode Woodland dishes.
Rattan chargers on white placemats add some contrast. Little white pumpkins scattered about.
I’ve already done test runs on two of my favorite fall recipes….Barfoot Contessa’s apple crisp and Martha Stewart’s acorn squash with gruyere.
Now, I just need to make sure the sheets are clean and I’m ready for company! The first of 4 sets of house guests between now and New Years!!
How do you prepare for house guests?
Fabulous table! Will your air conditioner be on? I am hoping for cooler temps, as this Indian Summer 70 degree weather is wrecking havoc on my Fall fantasy of a fire flickering and cashmere sweaters at the ready!
Enjoy time with your Father.

Enjoy your Fathers visit, it looks like you've thought of everything! PS-I love those dark purple calla lilies, wow they are luxurious!! *Amy
Looks wonderful!! Your father will feel very special that you have put this together for his visit! Have a great time! Take care, Caroline
Patricia,
I was a hot mess yesterday in the city – leggings, layers, rain boots. Then, we put the a/c on last here. Where is fall??!!
Aww! Wish my parents were coming in from Dallas! I have 2 sets of guest between now and Thanksgiving so far. I've been making sure the guest room is a real retreat 🙂 I'm so happy for you!
XOXO,
Kel
What fun!!! I love houseguests, and don't have them nearly as much as I would like. There is nothing better than a good meal with family and friends at a well set table to make everyone feel good. Your placesetting is beautiful.

I love your tablescape – very elegant.
I prepare my guest bathroom w/plush towels and any toiletries the guest(s) may have forgotten. I have a small water pitcher w/cool water and a drinking glass by their bedside. Also, I pack a goodie bag for their return voyage home.
Have a wonderful time with your Father!!
You do know how to spoil your guests – a lovely table and a delicious meal, a gracious hostess and loving daughter – your dad will be over the moon, I'm sure. Hope you have a wonderful visit!
xxoo
Purple Flowers – I have never provided a package for the return home – love that idea!
Elizabeth,
The table looks absolutely gorgeous! Enjoy your special visitor and delicious dinner.
Elizabeth! I hope you can hear the applause all the way from Boston. Fabulous!
xx,
Kate

Amazing! Clearly your Dad is in for a real treat! Family time AND Fabulous time! xx
I'd be happy to just sit at the table and stare at how pretty it is. Enjoy the visit with your father! xo Cathy
Your table is gorgeous! You are going to have such a wonderful weekend!
I love the table…are those Spode woodland plates? Have a splendid time! xx
I've always loved
this pattern and
the new pieces with
horses on them are
on my Christmas list
as a jumping off place
to start collecting it!
Sounds like you are
all ready for company
and everything looks
beautiful! I usually
like to have a few
structured activities
ready….some outings,
etc. for my guests.
Fun for them and for
me ~ I don't always
make time for the local
sights!
xx Suzanne
Your going to be a very, very busy girl. Your table looks gorgeous!!! Eddie Ross would be proud of you. He was in Little Rock today speaking at The Fine Arts Luncheon at the Governors Mansion. My sister and I went and got to visit with he and Jaithan. So, so nice as you know. He could have used your table in his slide presentation. Have a wonderful weekend with your Father. Mona
What a beautiful table. I love the flower arrangement and the insouciant appearance of white pumpkins here and there. Enjoy your visit w/ your father. You're the perfect hostess.
Lovely table and the flowers are beautiful! I have the same chargers – they are so versatile! And did I forget to ask if I can come to dinner? You're making one of my all time favorite desserts!!
And I forgot to mention that I have the same plates and am using them at a party in November. Have a great time with your dad. LOVE the Halloween photos. xx
Family, including my father is coming for Thanksgiving and I can't wait. This post just got me all excited!
Lucky guests! Would you post the squash and gruyere recipe? It sounds delicious.
