Standing in the check out line, I was captured by this cover of athome magazine. The modern painting, by Janet Slom, is juxtaposed perfectly above the twin French ballroom chairs. What else might there be, I wondered? I tossed the magazine on top of my Fage yogurt and bananas and looked forward to getting into the carpool line early, so I could read more.
The interiors did not disappoint.
Designed by homeowner, Leslie Cohen, there is a lightness and a restrained perfection to her Westport, CT home. I love the slabs of Italian marble in the kitchen, the old fashioned pendant lights and the textural balance of the farm table and rattan chairs.
An oversize photograph of horses nuzzling. I’m smitten.
Cohen knows how to edit for impact. She carefully chooses the “best in class” accessories.
Mostly though, her design reflects a love of home. You can see Leslie’s sources and more rooms here.
Imagine you could pick a room in your home for the cover of a magazine… which one would it be?

I loved this issue of At Home as well – Leslie's kitchen strikes the perfect balance of modern and rustic. The bar stools are great!

Fage yogurt and a beautiful magazine…a near perfect outing!
Beautiful spaces…all of them!
I love a white kitchen and this is a gorgeous one!

I feel like I've
seen that pic with
the horses before…
Maybe just because
I love them! Our home
is "open plan" and
I would probably
feature the first
floor, where most of
our living takes place,
if my home was in
a magazine : ).
Great inspiration!

Elizabeth,
I too, bought this issue due to the cover and you are right, the pages inside don't disappoint! It is a gorgeous home.
WOW! And I am so loving the HUGE horse art. Going to check her out ASAP. Thanks! –Gretchen O.
Oh my, I love that kitchen/eating area.
I loved this one too – and after our renovation, I think I will have many spaces to love. A kitchen really is such a hub- that one is a "grand central!"
Leslie needs a site…and a business if she does not have one already.

Love it! And I would put my bedroom on the cover.
The french ball room chairs, make me think about all the beautiful dresses and wonderful whisperings that went on among their occupants. I love pieces with soul juxtaposed to something modern that makes them pop.
TFS,
Liz
GORGEOUS! The first picture is one of the most beautiful interiors shots I've seen in a long time. Makes me want to go thru my own house & throw a bunch of stuff out! You can't beat the combination of restraint and a eye for selecting the best pieces.
I could live in that kitchen alone!

Love that kitchen. It's elegant with a relaxed feeling to it. Thanks for sharing.
You're right, the paintings often catch the eye. They can create a certain mood through their colors. I am painting through synesthesia which makes me see colors when I hear names and numbers. These colors I transform in paintings. Colors are my life. Some of my paintings were chosen by interior designers just because of the colors.
that was awesome!
Omigosh! loving the big light bulb over the kitchen island! how gorgeous!! thanks for sharing this!! 🙂
Love the clean lines. I'll have to look for this publication.
Completely dying that you posted this!!! I have this issue on my desk, and after an exhaustive google search on Leslie Cohen yielded nothing I finally decided to let it lie…NOT to mention that Athome is how I found Lauren Muse…love this magazine…AND this Westport home, and the fact that I have been outsleuthed by you! 🙂
xx
Love the house, but I'm dying over the horse snuggling painting. A real show stopper
Your first paragraph is SO the parallel of my days as well! I laughed 🙂 Next, I did't cry…but I sighed and I roamed through that amazing home. Whew. It's places like that who jumpstarts my brain into gut, motivate and renovate mode! I'm loving the shelves mostly b/c I need some really bad. Fantastic and thanks for posting! XO, Kelly
Gorgeous kitchen! Love that rug in the living room too!
