How sweet is this handmade Thanksgiving card, I just received from my mother?!
I love how the angel is holding little elements of the season! But this isn’t just any angel. The angel pictured on her card is one of two statues which illuminated the entrance to the church where Grant and I were married 12 years ago.
Grant’s mom drove those angels across 3 states to bring them to Dallas. I am still grateful for that effort. Today, one resides in my mother’s garden… the other is perched at my mother-in-law’s front door.
The angels are a beautiful reminder of our wedding in November 1998. And serve as a reminder of the people we need to give thanks for!
So, today, I give thanks for these two women who helped shaped our characters, our values and our lives.
For whom do you give thanks?
Awe -I am going to cry over that sweet card! What an angel – I now want some sort of angel like that…in my garden.
We have a goddess…..she came with our home…
I need to fill her with a cornucopia of thanks.
I give thanks for so many angels in my life!!!!

Can you sell those cards????
That card is beautiful!!
I give thanks to my parents, whose parenting has served them well. My deceased Father was one of the nicest men you could ever talk with. And my Mother is an Angel on Earth.
(I am also thankful for my wonderful husband, Allen) 🙂
This card takes my breath away and with so many things to be thankful for, I just want to say I'm grateful for everyday and the people that come my way… I'm also thankful I've met such a great little group of bloggers right in my own backyard!
xxoo
Beautiful card. I give thanks for my family (mom, dad, sister, husband and kids and a handfull of aunts/uncles and cousins). We are a small bunch but very close and I wouldn't trade them for anything. Love the angel…my mom has a similar one in her garden and even ties a cute red bow around her neck at the holidays.
What an absolutely beautiful memory of a very special time! Take care, Caroline
pve – wouldn't they be cute on Etsy?
The cards, the angels, the story behind it and where they now reside…I have never heard anything like it! I want to steal this whole concept and do this for my own children one day…that is how much I love this idea! wow.
That is so, so touching! I love it, how thoughtful of her. It's the personal touches like that that make such a difference. XX!
such a beautiful story–lovely and sentimental, keep those angels close by!
I am a collector of angels and these little ones are so adorable. I love the homemade card too.
As soon as I saw your header I thought that has to be Patricia's! Enjoy!! xo
What a beautiful gesture and story!!
My Mom has a pair of angels on her front doorstop all year long. They make her so happy.
xx
I have a great fondness for the angels in my life, especially my "three graces." I love the idea of putting the candles in it. I might do that with my bird bath.
Best,
Liz

Oh, Elizabeth, you grasp the love and blessings tucked in the Thanksgiving card sent across the miles. Tears spontaneously fell. I give thanks daily for you. Angels are for all seasons, and I am glad you included the story behind this angel. I look forward to being with you for Thankgiving soon—can't wait. To the blog friends, HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you and those you hold dearest. Mother
Elizabeth,
What a truly lovely post. Every single word written touched me. I tend to be a very grateful person and especially during this time of the year. I am grateful for every single person I share my life with…every family member, friend, blogger truly touches my life. And, my darling I'm so very blessed to have met you.
Aaaaah!! I love that!!What a great card to recieve, that had to mean so much to you. Your mom is a special lady, Kathysue
That is one of the most wonderful wedding ideas I have ever heard! My mother kept the azalea trees that flanked the entrance of our church ( and the pushy wedding planner wanted to keep for herself!) She let's us know and takes pictures every time it blooms.
Happy Anniversary! We got married in 1998 too…
This is such a lovely post. The card and story are exquisite. Yes, we must keep our angels near and be grateful for all our blessings. Among the things I am so thankful for are family and friends and all the wonderful people I have met through blogging.
This is an absolutely lovely post.
Thank you.
Now THAT is love!
And I imagine that
both you and Grant
are pretty easy to
love : ) I am also
thankful for my
wonderful mama!
xx Suzanne
Once a light has been lit, it's a choice and a gift to pass it on 🙂 The light of life and grace was clearly instilled in you and you are passing it on to your darling boys and all of us who have had the pleasure of interacting with you. Lovely tribute! XO
