Have you joined Pinterest yet? I have…and am just starting to get the hang of it.
Which is why I was so taken back when I saw these “vibe trays” from Kelly Wearstler on her new blog, My Vibe My Life. This is how she organizes each of her design projects….on trays….in bits and pieces.
I’m fascinated by this approach and it really appeals to me.
What do you think? For gathering inspiration are you leaning more toward the virtual or the old tactile method?
How fun to just throw what inspires you onto a tray. My fear would be that little hands would decide to mix things up a bit and who knows what I'd get?? I'm off to see Kelly's site (did you know she launched her own clothing line, too?)
xxoo
I need to touch, see and feel. Virtual is fun but in real life I need to have all my little samples right in front of me to "play" with. Its fun to mix and match and see what creations you come up with…..
I love Pinterest because it keeps everything organized! I think its great for fashion ideas, home design, etc. I think once I take on a project I can use Pinterest to help me out at the beginning, then move into actual materials.

I'm loving this idea…the first vibe tray is amazing!!
I love this idea! It'd be great to have a tray of stuff to play around with to get ideas rather than doing it all online.
I love these Kelly Wearstler trays – I have to go back again and visit her blog to see. I am on Pinterest but my files are not that organized – some people have the most incredible pages – check out Sande from A Gift Wrapped Llife's pinterest page – it will amaze you!!
I love her vibe trays. I haven't tried Pinterest yet but it is on my list to explore. I think it will be great for organization but once I am into a project I like to have samples of everything at my fingertips….usually in a tote so they can be in the car should inspiration hit and lest I need to have colors and textures to coordinate with…
Love the mix on these trays and off to check out Pinterest. Great way to get ideas!

Pinterest=addictive.
Kelly W.=inspirational!
xx
for me Pinterest=not doing any of the things I should be doing…I get lost there for HOURS
makes me remember my days in fashion and the large mood boards that were made to present a collection.
Kelly's amazing and I love both. I love how a virtual method can take less space and be shared!
tactile of course is sublime, opening the senses….to possibilities.

Wish I could dive into that blue tray – beautiful. Off to check out pinterest.
I am a tactile crocodile! I am as ancient as they come…but my mind, heart, interests and approaches are as soft as clay and I'm open to updating and educating myself on anything that can enhance our lives 🙂 XO, Kelly
I knew those were hers as soon as I saw them! Love Kelly and love Pinterest. Another good one I just came across is olioboard. XX
I need to try this – thanks for sharing! xx
I would love to be more virtual– but I still need to see the pieces in person– I even have a hard time ordering things online that I have never seen in person before! Love the tray idea. Take care, Caroline
A very lovely way to gather things and create a sort of moodboard. I wish I'd enough reasons to create these sort of things but I don't. So I just make ones of teared out images or with Photoshop;)
Oh wow!! I have never heard of Pinterest, looks completely addictive!! I totally want to join 🙂
I use both the virtual and tactile method… virtual for ideas, but the tactile is more the inspiration point.
I organize in trays also, and am a fan of the working scrapbook and bulletin boards …. to me the ideal mood board 😉
Your blog is lovely!
I love the trays andvi am definitely in the tactile camp. Don't thinking could dobitcany other way….
I love your site! The beautiful images have a calming effect on me! I'm new to blogging so please stop by and check out my posts!
i have to say that I have joined the virtual design spaces, but much prefer the good ol touch it technique. There is just something about seeing, touching, feeling, and smelling in person.
I still can't get over how beautiful her trays are! Gorgeous!
