After answering the question: “If I woke up in Paris….” for my friend, Aspiring Kennedy this weekend, I thought I would give you a few more of my tips on Paris.
In case you missed my previous posts on Paris, here they are:
The one thing I haven’t covered yet was….the shopping! Oh, the shopping! If only I had an unlimited budget!
One place you’ve seen a lot of pictures of is Merci. Darling little shop, same owners as Colette, yet the proceeds go to charity. It’s truly a delight to walk into the courtyard and see that miniature, red fiat!
For shopping on the Right Bank, Colette is not to be missed. They are starting the trends that eventually trickle to the U.S. The pulse, the vibe, the people….it’s so eclectic and exciting!
We watched, from across the street, as a crowd gathered in front of Colette for some rapper we had never heard of. I highly recommend the Cosmopolitans. For some reason, they really are better in Paris. (Unrelated to shopping, but a girl has to refuel from all that walking!)
Finally, some people prefer the Right Bank, others prefer the Left. I fall into the latter category. And, one of the cutest little shops in the 6th Arrondissement is Sabbia Rosa. They sell the most gorgeous, perfectly cut lingerie. Madonna and Gwyneth have both been spotted there. Just trying their slips on will make you feel like a movie star.
They don’t have a website, so you’ll just have to add it to your reasons to visit Paris.
For more ideas on where to spend your francs and stay au courant, I loved this little book.
Do you have any chic Parisian shops you’d care to share?
I have always loved a really good fine & dime or a hardware store, and I love the mono-prix or BHV.
You can find wooden shoe trees and really nice cotton underpinnings.
I would also add "flower shops" to your list…as the arrangements are always incredibly stunning in Paris.
Especially the way they arrange pretty pink tulips.

Oh fun– reminds me of our trip there in 2007– my husband and I need to plan on going back very soon! Take care, Caroline
My favorite place, (not really a shop), is Laduree. I got the best tea/chocolates there for family/friends as gifts. Any shop in Paris is wonderful! xo
The many little shops in the Marais always inspire me as does the shop at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs… Love Merci and the pop-up store they had in NYC last year was such fun! You've got me dreaming of Paris again…
xxoo
I'm going this summer (as I've probably blabbed about too much on my blog!) so am definitely checking out that book!
The last time I was in Paris, I was out of college and doing the young and traveling the world gig. I was broke and didn't get to indulge in much shopping. Digital had not popped on the general radar yet, so my old school manual SLR camera with film is what documented all I have to remember Paris by. Years…I mean YEARS later I should now dig those pictures up. They might actually be quite cool! Love your Parisian flair this Monday XO, Kelly
Le sigh. My destination choice for my 50th birthday present! (I want a trip. NOT a party)

I'm sorry to say I haven't been to Paris for almost 20 years so I can't comment on anything current. Just dying to go again and if I do I'll be calling you for some great tips!!
i went to paris about 4 years ago, and did not have as much time for shopping as i would have liked (we were only able to spend 3 days there and had oh so much to fit in!). i'll definitely have to check these sites out whenever i am able to go next!
I can't go to Paris without going to Laduree. The macarons are to die for!
Merci looks like a great little shop. I love the red car!
Ohhhh, to be in Paris shopping!!! That sounds fabulous!!!
Xo,
E&J
When there we saw more of the sights as three sons and a husband were definitely NOT into shopping!

Oh, Elizabeth, you make me so want to hop a plane!! Oh, the glamour! Oh, the sheer chic-ness! Love love! You should receive your cards any day now 😉 A new one "Glamour in the Garden" is introduced today! Happy Spring, btw … hope it's a fabulous one for you! xo Sandy

Just got back from running up to my office to grab my "Paris" folder, as I need to scribble down your recommendations. Keep the Paris check list coming!
Haven't been in
a very long time
and am hoping to
go back this decade!
Paris in spring.
