Last weekend, I attended the annual Ode to Peony Workshop in Brooklyn with Nicolette & Sarah of Little Flower School.
We were a diverse group – 4 brides to be, a mother-daughter duo, 1 Columbia Law student, a jewelry maker, one woman from Maryland and a blogging housewife from Westchester.
Sarah and Nicolette were so fun and easy going….walking us through all of the beautiful blooms we had to work with and then each demonstrating how they put together their lush, wild, exuberant arrangements.
Here’s my arrangement below and what I used:
Plum leaves
Coral bells
Iris
Pulsatilla
Tulips
Lambs Ear
Scabiosa
Peony
And my new favorite……Oregano
In addition to our flower arrangement, we took home these fantastic clippers. And guess what I’ve been using them for. Cutting peonies, of course!
Have you taken a class recently? If so, what? If not, what would you take if had the time?
Now, let’s get about arranging our weekend!!!
I would love to take a "glass blowing" class!
Recently, I took a fitness class which was great fun.

Good morning! First how fun to attend such a class, I LOVE flowers and have always wanted to attend a floral arranging class. That must have been loads of fun then you throw in some fun girls and thats a winning combination!
Second, you have a neon green thumb, my friend! Your arrangment is just fabulous and so professionally done. You are ready for business! You really do have a knack!
I did take a cooking class recently, which was a blast and am taking a photography course later in the summer. I love learning..there is still so much to discover!
Great job….
Would love to take a cooking class… in Provence or Tuscany! It's been so long since I've learned something new to do… Your bouquet is beautfiful and you have a job at DJH anytime!
xxoo
How gorgeous is your arrangement! You're a natural. Wow. And what an amazing class and SO useful. Hope you are well! XOXO
It's beautiful! So lush … I think you have been hiding another talent from us! I always want to take a class there, and really need to make the time to do so.
Your arrangement turned out beautifully. I can't think of a better way to spend a few hours than playing with peonies! Don't you just love them? We've been trying to organize the girls to do a class at a local florist for months, but haven't been able to find a date that works. Your motivating me to keep trying!
Have a BEAUTIFUL weekend, Elizabeth! XO
This is a class I would love to take! You passed with flying colors! Would also like to take a photography class, and that cooking class in Tuscany with the Buzz and…
xo Cathy
Oregano!? Brilliant! Your arrangement…stunning!
What a lovely afternoon! I'd love to take a class from them sometime. Flower arranging is something I'd love to master. For now, I mainly stick with the same blooms!
Your arrangement is gorgeous and I love that vase!
Your arrangement is spectacular. I'd love to take a class like that. I've taken lots of cooking classes (primarily pastry arts) and a photography class on how to photograph children….this one looks fun. I want to take a sewing class at a funky place nearby.
ooooh I love saipua!!! they sponsored an event I hosted last winter and the arrangements they created were absolutely stunning! All white and arranged in vintage brass ginger jars that I provided … was a terrific combo. Have been tempted to do one of their courses but they are either sold out of not at a good time for me.
Wow I would have loved to have taken that! Looks like it was a great experience. And I love your arrangement!
Have a great weekend, sweetie 🙂 xoxo
I am so not surprised by your amazing creation!! I love that you did that 🙂 If I had time to take a class, I would love to re learn how to make my own frames. I had to do that in college before we presented our work and I remember disliking it. Seemed like so much work! Now I would love the chance to do it all over again 🙂 XO, Kelly
I would love to take a class like this. I'm sure you had a great time. I always enjoy learning new things. Your arrangement turned out beautiful!
Love it!! Pretty please contact me the next tome you do such a fun outing!! Fab!

So pretty, Elizabeth. I would totally do a flower arranging class! Love the clippers, too. I need a new pair!
Wow, how impressive! You have a great eye for color combinations!
This just sounds like so much fun. I love your arrangement. I could use a class, someone my arrangements never come out right no matter how hard I try. I do not have a green thumb at all! xo
Gorgeous. That last shot should be published, like on a calling card. just beautiful! of course! you amaze me EM
So Jealous – I would have loved to take that class. I wish I knew more about flower arranging and mixing different varieties. The shears are fabulous take home!
Oh so fun, Elizabeth! My peonies are finally now beginning to bloom (almost). Normally, they would have been already gone by now, but it has been unseasonably cold in this area up until two days ago. Yay! Have fun with your boys at the pool! (thanks for your comment on my blog). Have a wonderful, fun week! (Oh, and the arrangement looks fabulous).
Your arrangement is beautiful. Love the idea of taking a flower arranging class!!
Beautiful Elizabeth!! I go into such a happy trance when I arrange. You MUST get the book: "The Flowers of La Grenouille." It is my flower bible and has really helped. I've been in garden clubs, been a garden docent, but nothing compares to this book. I return to it endlessly. I can't resist sending you a few of my recent creations.
Best,
Liz
Gorgeous flowers and arrangement! It sounded and looks like so much fun, would love to do this too. For starters I find it not always easy to choose the right flowers together and second I'm still practicing on 'arranging them' haha. Also I would love to do a cooking class. Hope you had a great weekend.
GORGEOUS!
