Mmmmmmm…..don’t these desserts look delicious? Well, for some children I personally know, they are simply dangerous.
Peanut butter. Eggs. Dairy. Wheat. And the list goes on.
Today, over 15 million Americans, including nearly 6 million children are suffering from life threatening allergies….and something as simple as eating in the school cafeteria, attending a birthday party or eating out at a restaurant can carry terrifying risks.
So, today, I want to highlight the work of FAAN (The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network), and the FAAN Walk For Food Allergy events happening around the country (this weekend in Westchester County) that are being held to raise awareness and research funding.
You may personally know someone who carries an EPI pen with them, have a child who suffers from life threatening allergies or never thought much about it at all.
Each of us can make a difference, so today I dedicate this post to my young friends Grace, Jack, Henry and Luke and all the other children out there who have no choice but to trust the adults around them.
My wish for them is that a cure will someday be found!

I just baked some delightful chocolate chips and packaged them and sent them to my son who requested a "care" package. I did not add nuts for fear that someone who has allergies might not appreciate that.
How nice that you support this cause.

Knowledge is power and its important everyone be well aware of the growing number of children (and adults) who have serious allergies. One of my sons very good friends has a peanut allergy so we are quite vigilant when he is around, also our school adopted a nut free policy several years ago. Thanks for the information Elizabeth, its good work. (But I must confess that picture of that delectable cookie got me here, show me sweets and I will follow……)

Being a mom to a son (who is now in college) with severe food allergies, this post hits home. We have all carried epi-pens for years. And we have been members of FAAN since the early 90's. They are a wonderfully supportive and very informative group. Thanks so much for supporting FAAN and those affected by food allergies.

This has been an area of interest and concern. It seems there is a correlation between vaccines and the epidemic of certain allergies.
What a sad shame.
It is something we have known for years as some of our children's closest friends suffer from life-threatening allergies. I too hope they find a cure for this!
Elizabeth, your photos killed me this morning!
Thank you for promoting this incredibly fatal allergy. Just yesterday I was having lunch with a girlfriend who is deathly allergic to walnuts and trying to navigate through the menu was nuts…literally.
Even though my little one isn't allergic, my heart goes out to any parent who has a child who is. It must be terrifying to know that you have to put your child's health in the hands of others.

well said elizabeth, well done! your large heart extends to so many
