Lucky you! You’ve been invited to an autumn dinner party at a friend’s house. Aside from figuring out what to wear, you need to decide what to bring the host or hostess with the mostess!
To me, this is opportunity to express your gratitude in advance, for what is sure to be a memorable evening. If you’ve hosted a party (big or small) yourself, you realize how much thought, planning and last minute scrambling is involved. How fun for the host to blow out the candles at the end of the evening and open a thoughtfully chosen gift form you.
So, what should you take?
Pair this silver tea strainer with the aromatic and beautifully packaged Bellocq Tea – available at And George.
Put together a “breakfast basket” for the morning after…include an earthy wooden cutting board, fresh bread or croissants and your favorite jam or honey.
Know your hosts favorite color?
At $55, these throws from Company C (thanks, Traci!), paired with a hip box of matches ( Iomoi.com) are a lovely way for your host to relax by the fire after the big night.
No matter what you take, like all things, it is the thought the counts. And, it’s always appreciated when you consider the recipient and what they might enjoy!
Here’s to a wonderful weekend and lots of invitations coming your way!
GREAT ideas Elizabeth and as it turns out we are invited to someones house in a few weeks for a dinner party (so excited, wish more of my friends would have them) so you have given me some wonderful ideas, love the idea of a breakfast basket…what a superb idea, very thoughtful to someone who will have worked very hard the day before!
All welcomed hostess gifts! I'd be taking one of those great colored throws with an added monogram of course!

I love the silver tea strainer with the aromatic and beautifully packaged Bellocq "I love their artisan blends". My frined gave me the Earl Grey and it was superb and smooth…so I think u should take the tea:) so you friend get the experience of quality over quantity.

A client and friend recently gave one of my custom illustrations for a birthday gift and she told me how thrilled she was to see it perched amongst a table full of liquour. I rather like giving artwork 🙂

Now rsvp yes to all those fun invites and share what your wear. I know you must be the life of the party!

Perfect suggestions!! Love them all – you can come to my house any time!!
Such great ideas! Love the breakfast in a basket idea!
Fantastic ideas, Elizabeth. You have such fantastic taste. Bringing breakfast is one of my favorite ways of saying thanks to the hostess — whether it's homemade scones or the croissants from William Sonoma. I love being able to put some time and thought into a hostess gift that reflects the home and person it's going to.
I hope you have such a wonderful weekend, full of fun, friends and beauty! XO
Oh Elizabeth these are just fabulous ideas! Any time you'd like to come over, you're more than welcome to 🙂

marvelous ideas.. I love having a little stash from which to grab as I am zipping out the door.
Hi Elizabeth, I love the breakfast basket idea and the tea strainer. I need to get a nice stash together for the holidays. Francine Gardner brought me Hermes cologne as a gift for inviting her to stay with me at market. I truly envied myself!
Best,
Liz
