One of the ancillary surprises about staying at the Ace Hotel last year during Blogfest was discovering Stumptown Coffee Roasters. You know when something simple is delivered at a superior level — it elevates the entire experience? Well, that’s a cup of coffee from Stumptown.
Normally I make a pot of coffee in the morning, but a Step-by-Step tutorial on the Stumptown website on how to make the perfect pot via French Press has me planning to pull mine off the shelf and give it another try.
You can see their method here.
How about you? Do you start the morning off with a cup of java or do you prefer a cup of tea or something cold?
Always. Usually 2, sometimes 3 on really rough days! I use my Keurig so I can get to it faster. I'm a bear without my caffeine, (it's my one vice)! xo
I treat myself to Starbucks every once in awhile. We don't have a coffee maker b/c we've never been huge drinkers, but I think it may be time to invest!
Oh, I am going to give this a try…a cup of coffee is a must for me each morning! Take care, Caroline
Love Stumptown! One of my besties is an exec with Green Mountain Coffee and she brings me Stumptown right from the roasters. YUM! xx
I start my mornings with a pot of strong English breakfast tea which I drink with milk throughout the morning. At around 2 p.m., I make a fresh pot and have a cup or two. I started drinking tea with my grandmother when I was 2 and I've never looked back. Being married to an Englishman, we go through a lot of tea in a week. I never drink coffee and never have.
I own a french press but since I am the only coffee drinker in the house I just use a small melita filter and make one cup. Will have to check out Stumptown – I remember your mentioning it before!!
I adore my French press, but rarely use it. This is definitely food for thought. I think I will give my press a little more prominence.
Have a nice Thursday, Elizabeth.

Oh, I'm such a coffee girl! I start my day with two shots of espresso and then often stop for a latte at the Starbucks in our building when I get to the office. I worked for Starbucks for 10 years starting as a barista in college when the company had just 70 Northwest stores, then went on to do PR in the early days of their speedy growth. I fell in love with the romance of coffee – where it comes from, it's history, the coffee culture in Europe. We're blessed with a lot of great coffee spots here and I do love Stumptown, but my two favorites are in California – The Blue Bottle in the Ferry Building in San Francisco and a place called The Goat in Healdsburg (Sonoma). Just delicious!
Hope your day is perking along, Elizabeth! XO
Mhhh coffee! Always start my morning with a cup. Loving my Nespresso machine in the afternoon.
Can't start my day without coffee. It's a MUST!

How funny Elizabeth' I was just asking my husband how to use the French press….Thank you for referring me to this tutorial:) I need to limit my afternoon visits to Peets and Blue Bottle!
The mention of Blogfest makes me smile! Wasn't it wonderful? When it comes to coffe, I pass. I've never had a cup…hard to believe, right? I start my mornings with ice cold water, everyday always. I do love hot tea though…for the weekend and in the late afternoon.
Usually I start with
coffee….Love the
smell of it brewing
and that first sip….
Always with half and
half, or forget it : ) I
am also a hot tea girl
in the afternoon!
xx Suzanne
oh thanks for this, off to see the tutorial
my frenchpress came out again upon my return from europe and for some reason it is not the same. could it be the lack of old interior stone walls, steel windows opened to the garden ( sans screens), the 500 year old table it was served on with a buttery patina…….sigh!

Stumptown does have the most amazing coffee! Their cappuccinos are like little works of art! We start every morning with Starbucks French Roast. Extra dark – extra delicious for extra fuel for the day!
