Although we will be visiting The White House later this month (cherry blossom season!), I am more focused on MY White House. Or at least that’s what I’m still thinking. Our house was white when we bought it and obviously I liked it that way.
We have the opportunity to repaint the entire house once our renovation is complete. And, with that opportunity has come indecision. Should I repaint it white? What about cream? Perhaps a light gray?
White is classic. And an overwhelming number of home buyers prefer white. We will be adding shutters, so that is a place I could bring in a different color. Even that makes me nervous. All of the homes above….are just white.
So…what do YOU think? Should I stick with something that’s been working for me or forge a new path?

I love white houses, in every shape and size. It's easier to change your mind and repaint shutters so I'd go with that plan. And you can always change things up in your window boxes!
xxoo
I'd go with shutters, I think your home looks so classic in white & even plain black shutters would pop against it!
Keep the White House! It is just lovely and the gorgeous lanterns look wonderful against the painted white brick. Love the little snow thingies on the roof (unsure of the correct architectural word for them)!
best, teaorwine
Stick with the classic white. You can gp with pops of color with the front door and shutters. xx
I will NEVER tire of seeing your gorgeous yard! I think shutters would be a beautiful addition! Maybe grey?
I'm quite partial to white. Ours, yours, all these here…I'd even go so far to say paint your shutters white!:)
I love white, my house is white too. We have to paint this spring and i thought about changing the color but I think I have to stick with white. I love your pink landscaping against the white. Decisions, decisions. xo
Agree with everyone else – I would keep it white – you can easily add (even a fun) color with the shutters!!
Go white for sure! You can add some punch with the shutters.
Stick with what works! We have a white house with black shutters and I brought in color from flowering shrubs and trees. If you want color paint your front door a fun color I painted ours a burnt orange like the color of autumn leaves. Our neighbors have a yellow house and yellow doesnβt age well under the sun their house now looks four different colors because of this. White works but I know whatever you choose will be beautiful.
Enjoy your day Elizabeth!

You love white..I say go with your first instincts. I think the way to get a little creative with color is with the shutters and other smaller areas that can be accented, like a front door. A beautiful slate blue/gray, a soft green like what you have already are all beautiful compliments to elegant and pristine white!
I think your house wants to be white! It plays the perfect backdrop to your pretty pink tulips. I'm going to agree with everyone else that you should stick to white and look to doors and shutters for a little color play!
How fun that you will be making a trip to DC in cherry blossom season!
Have a lovely sunny Monday! XO
Wow, your home is just beautiful ! I would stick with white, because your home looks lovely in white. You do have a lot of color with all your flowers, and I love the color of your front door. If you are adding shutters, I think that will be perfect !
I love the white! The last home with color on white is beautiful. So classic.
have a happy Monday, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth,
First of all I am you newest follower and love your blog! As far as the house goes… I think white is just so classic! I just started my own blog and would love for you to stop by and let me know what you think.
Sincerely
Shauna
Change is always fun but it is scary! Your white house shows off your pink tulips so beautifully! It looks classically elegant. I also loved your idea of a grey … that could also be striking with the pink tulips. I'm sure whatever you do, Elizabeth, it will be a stunner! ~xoSM

I'm with the crowd here – white! Add color in shutters, door and lots of flowers. Shows off your pretty pink tulips better too!
xo Cathy
I'm in the all white crowd too! I just love a white house. Always have and always will. The landscaping can bring all the color it needs. π xoxo
I love a white house. and there are so many other ways to add color – shutters, window boxes, flowers … have fun! Whatever you choose will be gorgeous – you have such wonderful taste!
Your home is beautiful! I would stick with the white and bring in a touch of color with your new shutters. My home is the traditional white with black shutters and I can't imagine ever changing the color….. a classic.
When the opportunity rises I can imagine you'd consider painting it a different color, but its a huge decision. I would go for white, because it works SO extremely well, and fits perfect. In doubt always so no;) So if you'd like to go for a different color you have to feel really good about it. Grey would look pretty too I think. But, why alter something thats already so good looking?
Oh Elizabeth your house is perfection in white, and I love that you brought color in with your gorgeous flowers and through your shutters and door…I'd do the same –
I had to smile, the house I grew up in is a beautiful old white house and my boys call it the white house π I love your house, whatever you do will be wonderful, it looks fabulous.
White is so classic, however I've been seeing lots of variations to grey and they are lovely. Whatever decision you make will be the right one. Good luck!
Stick with the white!!! I love a fabulous white house, and yours looks amazing!!!

I think your tulips and green grass pop most against the white!
I am partial to white houses, so classic! our house is najavo white with black shutters but we are getting ready to paint and i think it will be white, white this tine!!!
Looks like it is unanimous — white with subtle color introduced on shutters and front door. Let your beautiful garden sing against the backdrop.
Best…Victoria
We've always loved your all-white house! It's so clean, elegant, and the perfect backdrop for those pretty pink tulips!!

what does your gut tell you elizabeth? change is good but not just for the sake of change, follow your instincts, you won't go wrong

I adore your house, I wouldn't change a thing!!!
LOVE, LOVE white houses! I wanted to paint my house when we built it, but my husband was insistent on leaving the brick as is.. It's fine, I love it, but my favorite is a gorgeous white house!
That being said, and I hate to confuse you any further, I do also love a slightly off-white house that would still be considered white to a passer by. I did a post on one of my favorite houses, and it reminds me a lot of yours. I consider it white, but i believe it is an off-white.

I'm sure whatever you do will be 100% lovely!!

I love white houses! I also love gray !(:

Elizabeth,
Growing up in Kentucky, there is a house that stands strong and it is so majestic all graced in pure white.
Your front door could be the exclamation, like fresh lipstick in a pretty fun pink. Then again, black would be lovely all year and have a nod to your love for Fashion.
It would pop with your lanterns too.
I know whatever you decide your home will always be so inviting and chic.

Based on your blog(personality) style I would offer WHITE as well for your home color. It is perfect for you. Why? It is classic and traditional. Which you are with a bit of style and fun. No need to second guess that choice. Your fun and style is depicted in your door color π
Perhaps a dove gray door and blue hydrangeas with your boxwood and iron planters. It will flow nicely with your new indoor selections.
It is very wise of you that you noted your making many decisions and perhaps a bit tired..Take heart – you will not regret white a year from now.:)
Love your pretty blog and you fresh style. Thank you for sharing.
We are currently building a new house and I had the exact same issue– between white and light gray. I decided on the white and I am very glad I did. I did add the shutters, in classic black– but I honestly like it better without– I've actually considered asking my husband to take them down– is that crazy? Maybe you could give me your input? Pictures over on my blog π But definitely go white! Classic!
If you love white then you'll love your house white! It is very classic and timeless. I think accents for your front door and possible shutters will be lovely to set it off.
Have fun!

Gail

I'm with the crowd, I love your house and how the white is so crisp against all the lush green shrubs and lawn and pretty pink tulips!!!
The color on your door is wonderful and would make a great shutter color if you do eventually decide to add them. The door would also look great in a robins egg-gray blue?xo,

Dear Elizabeth,
I am so past the curve on this, but I am chiming in because I'm passionate about white houses π It's my goal to live in one, I may just paint the brick on my house (remember when I asked about yours forever and a day ago?!) Your house is a stunner!
XO,
Kelly
