Have you ever felt drawn to something and not even sure why? A place? A smell? A color?
This was the week that I had to make a decision about the exteriror paint colors …and I found myself asking the painter for a softer, creamier white. Not a chalky white, but a soothing, more subtle white.
Funny enough, it’s the same color we are painting all of the trim inside the house. I just keep coming back to it.
And, when I started flipping through Suzanne Rheinstein’s stunning design book, At Home, again last night, I found myself nodding and understanding that I find comfort and calm in these softer hues.
There is a timeless quality to Suzanne’s designs that just makes me feel….at home!
Elizabeth,
Your home will shine in any shade. I do love all those rich ivories and creams. Reminds me of pearls, ivory, bone, ironstone, and all the lovely creamy tinted neutrals.
Good luck with your color choices and trust your own instinct.

I'm very much drawn to these soothing creams and soft hues too. I find them warm and easy to live in. They create such a great backdrop for art, antiques, and everything else in our home. -I Just love Suzanne's work!
Ok I have got to get that book because these pictures are stunning. Always trust your instint and you will never go wrong!
Enjoy your day!

Love your style and the soft pallete of colours even thouth I chose soft green house and yellow interior…with some blues and grays and greens but I love the creamy colours and it was a tough decission for me too!
I wanted to thank you for inspiring me with Pink Tulips and more so for the happy meaning that they represent…as my friend brought me some the other day and then I read your blot about it!! It was lovely to acknowledge and pause about the happiness we have in life. ciao Z
I love her work too, Elizabeth. I am gaping back to my design roots lately, leaving behind what I thought I was being drawn to.
I know that you will be so excited to be finished with your home.
Hav ea happy THursday.

Elizabeth –
I love Suzanne's style and this book. I was so pleased to meet her at an event at ADAC in Atlanta. Her talk was so fascinating, and she was charming. I can understand being inspired by her and her work. Follow your instincts for your remodeling and you'll never have regrets. It's fun following your project!

Elizabeth,
I too have been using a creamier white lately. I have combined it with pale grays and shades of linen. The combinations reminds me of oyster shells. I can not wit to see the results!

We are painting the outside of our house, replacing shutter, etc. starting next week. I thought about changing the color to grey, it's white now, but I couldn't do it. There is something about a white house! You can't go wrong. I can't wait to see your house once it's all done! XO
I completely agree, Elizabeth and I adore her interiors. The softer whites are so pleasing and timeless…can't wait to see!!
I love Suzanne's book…so talented. I'm definitely using lighter , softer colors in my designs now and am doing some of those changes in my own home as well. Can't wait to see what you have been up to. XO, Mona
I do love color, but want to live with a softer palette. It just makes my heart happy, so I get it!!!
