One of my favorite spaces at the Elle Decor Modern Concept Life House was actually outside.
With outdoor velvets by Perennials and furniture from Restoration Hardware, designer, Michael Tavano demonstrates how a little vision can transform a basic outdoor space into an oasis.
Funny story….in order to get the first photo, I politely asked a handsome gentleman to take a couple of steps over. Imagine my embarrassment when a voice behind me (belonging to none other than Scott Kravet) asked if I didn’t want the designer in the photo? Oh my gosh…of course. PLEASE get in the photo.
Not your average New York City terrace!
Wouldn’t you love to have Michael come style your outdoor living area? I know I would!
What I love about NY the most are all the incredible spaces and talented people like Michael who know how to add flair inside and out!
That space looks ready to rock out!

This looks amazing. We just put our outdoor furniture in the backyard- it looks nothing like this! Sometimes I wish I could just hire a designed to redo my entire home, but its kind of fun to have pride putting stuff together. Even if it doesn't look quite like this!
I go crazy for gorgeous outdoor spaces like this! I'm so curious to know what that gold circle screen is made of and where to get something like that.

The screen is actually a cabana made by New York-based showroom/collection DESIGNLUSH. It is handmade by artisan Matthew Shively, who was inspired by the 1970s fashion icons Paco Rabanne and Courreges and their gold paillette mini dresses. You can have it with any custom paint (or perhaps you're partial to the Ferrari-gold that Michael selected!) you want, in custom configurations and with or without custom shades and curtains by Michael Tavano's workroom MT Custom, who collaborated with DESIGNLUSH for this installation. You can also have it made as a screen if you like. You can email info@designlush.com to find out more.
How cool is he? Love that he thought out of the box! xoxo
So glad you posted this!! I arrived so late and it was crowded at the house that I barely got to see this space!! I just love spaces well designed for outdoor living!
Hi Elizabeth, I can easily see why you were drawn to this space. Its beautiful, I love how important outdoors spaces have become, treated with equal attention to the indoors…..and why not! There are so many beautiful possibilities!
Enjoy your day:)
Too funny you asked the designer to get out of the photo but simple mistake. I have the same zinc planters he used now if he would only come and finish my outdoor space for me.

I loved his space! It was lovely and so was he!
Yes, please! I think it would be wonderful to have a hidden garden room to escape to in the heat of the summer. Wish we could meet up there for a glass of wine! XO
He'd be welcome here any day – design away!

I am usually not a modern person, but this is stunning. I really like what he has done here. Funny story, Elizabeth.
Happy Wednesday.

Beautiful! So cozy and welcoming … and you're right, not at all what you think of as a New York terrace! Hope you're having a nice spring, Elizabeth 😉 xo
