Gratitude. The recognition of how much we already have.
Something I am working on in my own life when my thoughts drift off to what I “wish I had”. Usually, all it takes is looking around to realize I already have what I need. Perhaps that’s why I am so drawn to these In Gratitude bead necklaces by my friend, Jessica Mindich, and her company Jewelry for a Cause.
The necklaces are handmade by women in Uganda from recycled newspaper and barkcloth and are colored using natural plant dyes. Each necklace has 108 beads and is 26″ long. They can be worn long or wrapped around. No two necklaces are a like.
I love the idea of a tangible reminder of how much I have to grateful for….and that my purchase helps provide a sustainable and dignified source of income for these women, their families and their communities.
For everyone else, you can find these amazing beads on the Jewelry for a Cause website. At $50 per necklace, you can afford to layer them on!
These are gorgeous- the lavender sounds so pretty!
I'm most grateful for my family and my health. I've had a few health problems the past year but learning to live with them. Like you I have everything I need everything else is icing on the cake. Love these beads and they would make great gifts to those we're thankful to have in our lives.

Absolutely gorgoeus! Good to know, and anything for a noble cause makes them that much prettier. Hope you had a fabulous Mothers day Elizabeth..so nice to be back in blogland, have to go see all that I missed:)
Beautiful, Elizabeth!

Elizabeth, these are lovely. How helpful to have a tangible reminder of all we have to be grateful for. It's all to easy to lose track and start focusing on the absence rather than the abundance. I'm grateful for so many things – from the sunshine I'm waking up to this morning to the roof over my head. But I think right now I'm most grateful for this time I have in my life to pause, rest and explore taking myself in a new direction. It's such a gift.
Thanks for starting out the day with the topic of gratitude! I hope you have a terrific time at the event tonight! XO
What a lovely sentiment! The lavender sounds lovely. Will you show us them when you get them? Hope you had a lovely mother's day!
How gorgeous and what a wonderful cause.
How beautiful, Elizabeth and I love the purple too…know it will be a wonderful event tonight!!
I am always
smitten with
something that
is both beautiful
and supports a
great cause. I
remember when
you sent my pal
Kathleen a necklace
from JFAC when
she was battling
breast cancer; such
a great company!
Enjoy your night!

After surviving an explosion in our former home, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't spend time giving thanks. Even with associated health problems, I find that expressing gratitude for all that is, mitigates any pain I am in. Your post is a great reminder that we are so blessed to be living in countries of peace, safety and affluence. Thank you!
I have the same issues too, sometimes the "I Wish I Had" gets to be too much of a fore front in my mind, and I do like the idea of the beads. They are beautiful. Have fun meeting Maryam!
