Dogwood at the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum

Today, I am so happy to join my friends, Decor Arts Now, The Buzz Blog & Dec-a-porter in raising awareness about an amazing New York historical landmark that could use our help. American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation have joined forces to give $3 million to various New York landmarks, including the beautiful Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum, located in the Bronx…and they are basing their commitments on those landmarks that receive the most votes.
The land was purchased in the 1600s and the Greek Revival mansion was built in 1840…we’re predating the Downton Abbey years by a good 50 years! Enjoyed by the Pell family for 4 generations, it was eventually sold…and fell into disrepair.
This beautiful oasis is being lovingly cared for by the Bartow-Pell Conservancy, but funds are paramount to reviving the gardens as they were originally designed.
From Easter Egg hunts, to a children’s garden, to winter caroling parties to hiking on a sunny day….this is a place where people of all ages can enjoy the beauty of the Bronx in a unique and historical environment. The grounds are also the perfect back drop for special events and photographs!
