Do you have a friend who’s the quintessential hostess? Loves to cook and an invitation to their home is always a treat? Well, I do. And, not only does she love to cook and do it exceedingly well….she loves to try new recipes.
At a recent dinner, she prepared the most delicious, fresh appetizer. Bruschetta with Strawberry & Tomato Salad. Sublime. Summery and special.
The recipe is out of Ted Allen’s new cookbook, In The Kitchen. You may recognize him from his time on the Food Network hit show, Chopped, which just won a James Beard Award!
The above is not a photo from the book, but the actual appetizer my friend prepared. And, boy did we enjoyed every bite! Here’s the recipe if you want to give it a try!

Thanks Elizabeth – this looks delicious. We are having friends over for dinner on Friday and I might have to give this a try – although it may be a bit early here for the best tomatoes and strawberries. My friend Pam at Red Ticking gave me a beautiful little cookbook from the Canal House series for my birthday. It is full of summer recipes that I can't wait to try.

Hi Elizabeth, so good to be back! My peonies reminded me of the peony blanche candle you sent me last year. Now I really regret having used all of it… 😉 This recipe sounds absolutely delicious. I have a very simple but oh so good one for you. It's a Summer salad:
– Watermelon in pieces
– Basil leafs (a lot, an entire plant)
– Feta cheese
– Balsamico dressing
