With Mother’s Day around the corner, I thought it would be fun to highlight an interior designer, who blends high style with family friendly durability. Leslie May, whose work appears in this month’s Connecticut Cottages & Gardens is a young mother of 3, who pens the blog Family Style, in addition to creating beautiful spaces.
What made Leslie’s work jump out at me, aside from being chic and stylish, was that I once worked with Leslie. In what seems like a lifetime ago, I was living in NYC and about to have my oldest son. Leslie helped me zhush up my existing apartment furnishings and was working with me on the nursery…..when life happened. My husband was transferred from New York City to Charlotte, NC in the fall of 2011…and as you know what was happening around that time, I was thrilled to head South.
How fun to see her work recognized by CTC&G as well as other shelter magazines. To see the whole article, go here.
And, I can’t help but wonder what the nursery would have looked like if we had been able to finish what we were working on.
Here’s to all the mother’s out there, doing their best to create a happy stylish home!

I just love her use of color! Is it just me or is it finally time for color to make a "come back"!?!
Beautiful use of pattern and I love her colors. The bedrooms look soft ~ it's no wonder the kids want to be there. The bed linens are gorgeous. I'd like to take a look at that magazine!

Oh, Elizabeth…you made me remember why I started out doing all of this in the first place! I think I need to do a blog on how I started out with a design business with my best friend until our children started getting the best of us! Isn't life fun? I love to look back on the how's, the why's and the "what ifs"! Such a great post! Can't wait to read more about your friend and her obvious talent for design! Thanks for sharing this!
How fun it must have been to work with such a talent! We just chose a similar fabric for curtains in our new living room. Love the colors and patterns!
