Our family will be traveling to London this summer, so I have been gathering tips from friends, researching websites and planning our itinerary. One of the things that I’m looking forward to is a proper British afternoon tea!
There are many wonderful hotels that host afternoon tea. But, as a lover of fashion, I simply must experience the Pret-a-Portea at The Berkeley Hotel. Inspired by the current season’s fashions, cakes and pastries resemble what’s coming down the catwalk. Here’s a look at the Spring/Summer 2013 menu! Manola Blahnik’s slingback, Tory Burch’s violet bikini and Jason Wu’s leopard hatbox look as delicious and stylish!
What do you think….cat walk or cake walk? Have you been to London? Do you have a favorite place for tea or any restaurant recommendations?
Would you believe I go to London all the time but have never had a proper tea? I know but I usually don't have time since I'm usually working. I say go for both if you can. How exciting for you!

OH I'm jealous. My oldest was born in London (and has his British passport), but all my thoughts are dated! I haven't been back since we moved to the US in 2004. Enjoy it all.
Oh, I just love this!! Definitely go for the cat walk…it sounds like SO much fun. I love having a proper tea.
Have you ever been to The Drawing Room in Greenwich? They do a lovely afternoon tea.
Enjoy this sunshine! xoxo
Nothing beats a proper English Afternoon Tea Elizabeth. We are huge afternoon tea fans. We've had one of the Berkeley's teas and I can recommend it highly! This year I'll be sharing our regular Afternoon Tea adventures.
I hope you can join us for our Afternoon Tea themed Giveaway. We have a beautiful Tina Tsang Cake Stand as a prize which are made right here in London.
Toodle pip!

Bonjour, or Good Day, Elizabeth! My next stop when in Europe will be London. After meeting so many kind British bloggers, England has to be on my bucket list! I would recommend visiting PAUL from the Magical Christmas Tree Company blog to ask him for some suggestions. He is having a giveaway for a tea cake holder! He's a lot of fun.
Wishing you a fun planning time as you prepare to go to one of the world's most exciting cities AND I am so excited about your France link post! The party starts this Friday and I am posting about 9:30-10:00am central time. I am putting your name in for the draw of Vicki's book!
Many thanks for coming on by today! CHEERS! Anita
OH…when the party starts, make sure you take a look at the music video I'll be having on my blog. YOUR header is featured on it! Anita
How fun! I love how innovative this is, I say try several, afterall its a vacation:)
Good to be back in blogland, look forward to catching up to see what I missed, hope you had a fabulous Mothers Day!
Will you be in London the first week of July for the royal baby's arrival? How fun!
We'll be there in June…so just before the new royal baby makes its arrival. I'm sure there will be excitement in the air!

Hello Elizabeth, I'm so excited for you. Now you having me craving a Jonathan Saunders! We still have not gotten to London since we moved to the UK. My youngest is going to Uni there Fall quarter and our goal is to go visit then. Nothing is more fun than 'high tea' in London is it, except perhaps Scotland! I know your visit will be incredibly fun. Can't wait to read about your experiences.
Cheers from Scotland,
Deb
How fun and fashionable! You know our favorite treat would be those bees… Perhaps you can squeeze us in your luggage?!

Tea in London is a must do and the Berkley will be fab. The Ritz does a pretty bang up job as well.
Hope the bar at the Stafford and the Dukes Hotel are on your list, too! Cheerio!
Let them eat cake…fashionably! You're going to have a blast and hoping you take tons of photos!

You're going to have so much fun! I had afternoon tea at The Dorchester and it was an amazing experience. My husband was skeptical, but said it was worth every penny. Tip: Hang out in pubs near Buckingham Palace. We met palace guards that were hanging out there after work who showed us around the city. So fun! Oh, and Harrod's has a champagne bar! I'm still mad at my husband for not wanting to go in, lol.
Elizabeth,
I hope you will have time to meet Lauren from Aspiring Kennedy and her baby. I know she has lots of royal spots to see. Pinkies up!

I love the "This is London" Travel books for children as well. Your Tea at Berkley's looks delightful. I have been to Brown's–where Agatha Christie lived and was originally owned by Lord Byron's Valet. I also have had Tea at Claridge–with the loveliest Ladies Room in the World, complete with Lalique doors and windows and Beidermeier furniture. …Divine. I am visiting London next spring, so I will be interested in your trip.
I'm heading to London next week for a family wedding (my mom was English, and my cousin is getting married). Years ago, Brown's was the classic place for tea, and the Dorcester is wonderful too. Brown's is very clubby (dark colors), the Dorcester is grand. The Wolsely is a great brunch spot, on Picadilly, and they have an afternoon tea (have never tried it, but will this trip). Fortnum and Mason also has great afternoon teas – and shopping too! For an alternative to a very expensive tea at one of the hotels, the Muffin Man off Kensington High Road has a wonderful casual cafe afternoon tea. arks & Spencer has delectable scones if you have a craving.
Safe travels!

I have to laugh: you are looking at an extremely posh tea here; most of us eat regular sandwiches, scones, and biscuits. Leopard-print cakes are not the norm! The Dorchester and Brown's do indeed, however, do a wonderful Afternoon Tea. So does my family, but they are not open to the public. Enjoy your visit, you will find Afternoon Teas everywhere; no problem.
I lived in London after college, and travel back as often as possible. I've had tea at the Ritz, Claridges, the Dorchester and several other places. The Ritz is a classic, a wonderful place for your first tea. Fortnum and Mason does a lovely, and much less expensive, tea as well. Have a wonderful trip!
Look at all those delicious little cakes!! I wanted to go to London last year when we were in Paris but the timing didn't work. I will get there next time! I've heard it's wonderful and you must do the high tea. I'm sure you are beyond excited Elizabeth and making all the travel plans is half the fun. xxleslie
Elizabeth – the teas sound great! I have never tried one when in London but a great idea for my next visit, hopefully in October. For another unique eating experience I would recommend Rules http://www.rules.co.uk if you haven't already eaten there. Thanks again for sending me your "plantings" last Fall – we are working away. Safe travel, Mary
