When you have a summer birthday as I do, there was one reoccurring gift that you tended to receive when growing up. Beach towels. It was one of those funny things….I probably didn’t appreciate it as much as I would today. Now, I have a “thing” for cool beach towels.
Although this collection for D. Porthault is out of my price range…I thought it would be fun to share as the top image graced the cover of Vogue on this day, July 15, 1926! . The image is by Spanish artist, Eduardo Garcia Benito. During the 1920s, Benito’s famous illustrations of elongated faces and necks became known as the Big Heads…and often graced the cover of Vogue.
Here are some other pretty fabulous beach towels by D. Porthault.
I guess if you vacation in St. Tropez or St. Barts, this might be the type of beach accessory you could splurge on (lucky you!!), but my favorite towels come from Lands End with our family name monogrammed in a contrast color. Which is especially helpful when you seem to be visiting the “lost and found” at the pool each weekend!
Stay cool this week….it looks like we’re in for a scorcher! Better hit the pool and grab your beach towel!
Elizabeth, these towels are gorgeous. I am with you though, loving monogrammed towels.
Happy Monday.

Happy Birthday Elizabeth! I hope you have a wonderful day. I personally love the vogue towel as mine doesn't look as nice.

The monogrammed Lands End ones absolutely get the job done – love them in blue and white. But I agree the D. Porthaults are super glamorous – how fantastic would the zebra stripes look stacked around a swimming pool? Stay cool, Elizabeth! XO
I'm sort of a beach towel hoarder myself. Lately, though, I've been loving my turquoise and white fouta towels. Just shake them out and the sand drops right off, unlike a terrycloth towel. They dry faster too.
These towels are great…as is pretty much of anything by the great Porthault! It has always amazed me when I see kids using Porthault or Hermes beach towels. Lands End all the way for me!
Enjoy your day…I hope you will be spending it someplace cool!!

Happy Birthday E!
Ha-can't tell you how many monogrammed towels we have retrieved from the lost and found…

Oh, Elizabeth, mine are boring white beach towels! I love that they can be bleached, if needed. (I try not to use bleach at all.) Speaking of beaches, we just came back from Maine. The weather was incredible up there: sunny days and cool nights. The water was quite cold, so I didn't even take a dip. Now I'm back in very hot and muggy DC. Temps are in mid – upper 90s this week.
Stay cool,
x Loi
I love those towels, but I am like you – family name monogrammed on maybe even towels from Target!
Hi Elizabeth, Late getting here and apparently you've had a birthday?! Popped over to your instagram and looks like you had a wonderful time:)
The towels.. they are beautiful and I'm sure they are a fortune! We don't spend too much time at the pool now that the kids are grown but we do travel to vacation (beach destinations) that require towels. Usually they are available for guests so I can't say they are overly fancy but they ARE soft:) and that's important. Beach towels can get large and heavy, making them difficult to carry and dry.
The monogrammed towels are a great idea!

Yes, indeed: I hope you enjoy(ed) a wonderful birthday and many happy returns on it!
Happy Birthday Dear Elizabeth! Adore the Vogue Towel, very chic!

This made me giggle! I love the idea of a super chic (Hermes?) beach towel, but unfortunately I think those are better suited for the sort of person who purchases the dry-clean only cover-ups. In other words, not this boy mom!!
Ohh waoo.. your idea is awesome and i will follow this.
