It doesn’t take much for me to want to decorate and celebrate….so for my boys’ first day of school, I thought I’d have a little school spirit waiting for them when they came down for breakfast. Inspired by the fantastical balloon creations by Geronimo! Balloons (a favorite of companies such as J. Crew, Bergdorf Goodman and Chanel), and this DIY tutorial, I tried creating my own version.
The balloons are 36″, so a good deal larger than your typical party balloon. I ordered the balloons from here and had my local Party City blow them up. I festooned the balloons with a garland of pom-poms, made from tissue paper in their school colors and personalized the balloons with a little note and their name. I thought the results were pretty cute!
I don’t consider myself a crafty person at all, yet this project was simple and fun. And, something I will do again for birthdays or a special surprise. With balloons like these retailing for $80 or more….I think I’ll make my own!
Do you have a special “decorate and celebrate” tip or tradition?
OK two things….this could any kid over the moon about starting third grade. Next I want to come back as your kid in my next life…actually three things, so jealous you have a 3rd grader! Love the idea, great balloons!! What a great start to the year for your son:)
Wow, Elizabeth, I'm impressed! You did a fantastic job with these, and your boys must have been thrilled. I'm with Tina – I would love to come back as one of your kids in my next life. What a fun, creative mom you are. Lucky, lucky boys. Have a wonderful weekend! XO
they are adorable!!!
So cute!! Not only am I impressed by your craftiness but getting good pictures of your balloons, I know what a pain they are to work with always blowing around 🙂
You are such a great Mom! It was enough to make sure our high school and middle school boys got up, showered and dressed in time for their first day of school. When we wanted to capture the moment in a picture, all we got was an "Aww, Mom!" Hope you had a great week, Elizabeth.
