Who doesn’t want to live a more beautiful life? I know I do! But, where to start?
Tomorrow, a very special book is being released, by my friend, Ted Kennedy Watson, acclaimed retailer, blogger and arbiter of great style and gracious living. Style & Simplicity, An A to Z Guide to Living a More Beautiful Life provides a roadmap, with ideas that are within reach for all of us. As Ted says in his introduction, ” This book is really all about the small details that make our daily lives rich.”
From Art and Adirondack chairs to Wrapping and Zinnias…there is SO much to be discovered and uncovered in this delightful tome. As I told Ted, this is the kind of book that you’ll have forever. It will be as relevant in 5, 10 and 20 years as it is today. It speaks to all ages and all stages of life. For we are never too old or too young to pursue a beautiful life. So, not only will you want a copy, you will want to give it to your friends and loved ones. Priced at just $20, it is a steal and the perfectly priced gift.
Below, Ted gives us a sneak peek into how he lives and at some of the pages in his first book. All of the wonderful photographs were taken by Ted.
I, of course, was grinning broadly to discover that T is for Tulip!
PPT: Among all the beautiful things you are surrounded by….do you have one favorite thing, aside from Mr. Sive and Bailey?
The official book signing is happening in Seattle tomorrow at one of Ted’s magical shops. But, for 5 (that’s right FIVE) lucky readers, Ted has signed advance copies for you and they are ready to mail out. Simply leave a comment below with your favorite letter + word that you would include in a guide to living a more beautiful life.
I’ll start! C for Celebrations. For in celebrating those we love and care about, we elevate not only their lives, but our own. Ted, here’s to you, the release of your first book and for showing us how to create a more beautiful life….with style and simplicity!
So, what would be your letter and your word?!
(Give away open until Saturday at midnight)

Good morning Elizabeth….you originally introduced me to Ted and I have been smitten ever since! I would LOVE his book (and was actually on his site yesterday looking at it)! My letter would be "W" for WANDER, of course! Have a beautiful Monday…I am off to the city for the show house. xoxo
Another must-have book for my library! Looks fabulous!! Thanks for the preview and interview, Elizabeth. Ok…T for topiaries. You can never have enough of them – so civilized, stylish and whimsical! xo
WOW…what a generous giveaway, my fingers and toes are crossed!!
OK it will be B for beauty…I love to see, search and find the beauty in everything (as it appears Ted does too)!
His Sundays sound perfect, hope I win!
I would chooose F for Family. Family makes the house a home, making memories and is the heart of any home. Looks like a wonderful book!
S is for stripes! I love stripes. Whether it is wearing them on a Breton tee, on a summery area rug, cozy ticking stripe sheets, or a nautical throw blanket. They are classic and fun.
First, Congratulations to Ted! This is so exciting. Oh, I so want a signed copy of this book. My letter is "F" for flowers. Like Ted, there is not a day in the year that I don't have fresh flowers in the house. (I also wholeheartedly agree about lighting candles each night!)
happy spring to you both!'xxojoan
H for hydrangeas, a favorite of ours. What an amazing cover – can't wait to see more!!
Years ago on a weekend trip to Seattle I went to his store. What a great shop all sorts of treasures!
I would choose H ~ for Hospitality. Good times with good friends and family and good food, there is nothing that makes me happier.
Sounds like a lovely book. My letter would be N for nature. Adding some live like plants or flowers or a piece of driftwood or shells.
Elizabeth, I'm so excited about this book – Seattle is so lucky to have Watson Kennedy and Ted's wonderful point of view on what makes life a little more beautiful – I'm glad that this book will bring his lovely way of looking at things to people outside of my hometown. Our tennis club is hosting Mr. Watson for a book signing and luncheon in a couple weeks, so that's when I'll get my copy (of course, you would be more than welcome to join me if you could hop on a plane – wouldn't that be lovely?)
So what's my letter. Hmmmm. I think "S is for Simple" because I believe it's the simplest things that add the most beauty to life.
Hope your week is beautiful with a capital B!
XOXO
What a fabulous looking book.
F is for family.
I am on a path this year to living more simply and beautifully. This book would be a perfect addition to this journey. My letter is "S" for "Smile." I've learned that no matter what is going on in our lives, a smile can not only change us for the better, but the people around us. 😉
Ted's book looks amazing! Would love to receive one of his beautiful books. My letter/word is G for Grateful! I am so grateful for my beautiful life- with all the things that are important to me- family, friends, pets, home and happiness. xo
Ted's book looks beautiful. I am choosing H for Healthy. It is so easy to be happy and enjoy life when you are healthy.
I've been counting the days for this book to come out!
D is for Dogs, or P is for Pups…of which I have three whose presence in my life and my home elevate me to see things from a different “client” perspective, challenging and inspiring me to find the balance between the comforts that they need and the beauty that I crave: couches lined with faux furs throws, doggie treats and toys in lovely containers at arm’s reach everywhere, throw pillows that hold up to many, many naps, and all the other items I now consider since so recently becoming a “dog person.”
Thank you for such a lovely introduction to this beautiful book! I would be thrilled to win a copy—signed no less!! My letter is H—for Happiness! I firmly believe that Happiness is a choice and it's the little simple joys in life that I think make us the happiest. Voila: Ted's book!
"F" for Faithful Friends. The compassion and fun of friendship in so many ways!

Thank you for sharing to be released book, Elizabeth! I cannot wait to soak it up! I – Inspiring.
Happy Monday! wok
"A" is for magnificent art. I'm right there with Ted and loving art. I also purchase paintings when I travel. After they're home, I find a special place for it and each time I look at them, I can go back in time and remember everything from the city, to the smells, to my feelings of being in that special place.
"A" is for art and how Watson Kennedy makes everything into art.
Some of the most wonderful colors, fragrances, accessories and inspiration comes from NATURE–Letter N. Love Ted and his photographs and writing. Looking forward to getting back to Seattle to see his store in person
C for creativity and how in everything we do we can add love and caring! Ted is incredible!
xoxo

The Arts by Karena
"C" for curating chaos – my new mantra – since we are all so busy but craving (another c word) serenity. Sitting down with this book and a cup of tea would bring me that much needed serenity and give me ideas for curating my chaos!
B is for books– not just learning from them, and being inspired and entertained by them, but also using them to decorate. Every room needs beautiful books, and Ted's is the latest must-have!
B is for Bountiful – so many inspiring and beautiful ideas and images! Thank you for sharing your knowledge, charm, and simplicity.
R for rituals. Encompassing them into daily life makes the all the difference. Be it a small bloom from the garden or using the our best crystal to have my wine from every evening. I am lucky to have Ted's shop on 1st so close to my office. Love all the great ideas!! Wishing much success.

I would say S for Spring which is such a pretty season. Being surrounded by the blooming of beautiful flowers and the lush greenery here in the Pacific NW, it's such a simple joy.
What a beautiful book! I would love to go visit his stores in Seattle. G is for girlfriends…they get you through everything and make you laugh!
My absolute favorite place to wander! Love Watson Kennedy! T is for Thankful. Thankful for fabulous friends and family and to live in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest!
Looks like a fabulous book! P is for Peonies, my favorite flower! They're such a welcome addition to my garden in the spring and mine are just about to bloom! Thanks, Elizabeth!
P is for Pets….no home of mine would be complete without them. That looks like a great book!
I can't wait to see the book! The daily blog is always a must read so I love the idea of having Ted's book close at hand. My letter is J for 'Just try it!' People are always surprised that I would 'dare' try making, cooking, or doing something new creatively. Really, I say…Just try it. It's not life or death, it's just fun.
friends and fun! Ted has wonderful thoughts and comments to share. Can't wait to get his lovely book!
S is for Slow Down — and enjoy your home. Enjoy where you are right now. Tomorrow can wait — the 'to do' list will always be there. I don't achieve this objective, but I strive to!
A for appreciation. Appreciation for things precious to you, however humble they may be. I have a hand colored picture of my grandmother as "Miss Cherry Blossom" in a play. Without a doubt, one of my all time favorite possessions….worth nothing to anyone else, but worth millions to me.
I love it – 26 opportunities.
The first thing that came to mind for me was 'H' for Honesty. Sometimes it's a tough pill to swallow, but it's necessary medicine that we all need.
S for style & simplicity!!
i am a huge fan and rear of ted's blog and cannot wait to see his book. what a wonderful duo you both must make.
cheers!

H for harmony, I think it is the most beautiful sounding word! Harmony, it rolls off the tongue. Happy, healthy, heart, love them all! Gina T
I is for It does not take much to make everyday beautiful. It is the little things, such simple things. I wish everyone could look through those glasses. What a wonderful world this could be! I have a Bailey girl too and our baby Ava. Maybe I should have said P for pups!!!
V is for vintage!!! Ted is so comfortable mixing beautiful vintage pieces in so many adaptable, stylish and treasured ways!!!! I would love to meet Ted and see his store but I live too far away from his domain!
My letter is "S" and my word would definitely be senses. Ted has truly helped me realize the importance of daily using my senses to enjoy a more beautiful life. When I am living in the moment and my senses are engaged then my days are beautifully enriched. I consciously focus on how to see all there is to see, smell all there is to smell, taste all there is to taste, touch all there is to touch, and hear all there is to hear.I am so grateful for the gift of my senses and how they help bring beauty to my world as I travel on this journey of life. It is all about giving and receiving love. Happy tulip Tuesday. Cindy
Elizabeth,
I had to come back to enter for my one of my sisters. S for Sisters, I have three and love them all. We encourage one another, inspire one another, support one another and cherish our special bonds as sisters.

Congratulations! D – is for DOG! Nothing makes a home more beautiful than your family gathered around the porch at night or a nice afternoon with man's best friend sitting with you and enjoying the sun or playing fetch and enriching your life by providing another person (or canine) to love and have the love returned!
I – Integrity, a word to live by.
G for Graceful. Looks like a beautiful book that can inspire.
R, for Ritual. Or Routine. Or Rhythm. It's the rhythm, routines, and little rituals that make for a rich life, something Ted clearly appreciates!
What a lovely book and give-away!
My letter would be "S" for Soiree…an evening party or gathering, typically in a private house, for conversation or music.
