With family arriving tomorrow for the week, checking things off my list is a must. Setting the dining room table with our nutcracker china (Grenadiers by Bernadaud) is something I always enjoy. Here’s how it happens, step-by-step.
Throughout the years, I’ve collected not only actual nutcrackers for the centerpiece, but accents that allow me to really play with the theme. These ornaments/napkin rings and the crackers are from Pier 1.
The red vintage glasses with the greek key design were a special find from my sweet friends, Eddie Ross & Jaithan Kochar. I think of them whenever we use them!
There’s still plenty to do, but at least I can enjoy the table between now and Christmas Eve….and I just crossed something off my list!
Are you hosting family or friends for the holidays? Do you have a favorite theme or do you change it up every year?
Love it! I also love nutcrackers and have a whole army of them to prove it:) Your table looks so festive and pretty, looks like your guests are in for a wonderful treat…I love setting my table early too!
Enjoy all the festivities Elizabeth:)
It looks so beautiful, Elizabeth. We host 20 (our family) for Christmas Eve dinner and I love setting the time in the finest china and linens, but hands down, the best part of the entire dinner is the party crackers. We use them every year and I think our favorites so far have the whistles that each person plays at a certain time to make Christmas carols – makes for fun memories and lots of laughs!
Oh that is such a lovely dinner service, I really must get round to buying Christmas china it's such lovely idea.
Elizabeth, all the care you put into the your holiday table is just wonderful. The love can be seen in every step you take in making it beautiful and special. I love the nutcrackers, what a fun tradition! We are hosting a couple small gatherings over the next few days (starting tonight!) and my table is half set with a combination of Herend Golden Edge and Red Willow Ware. I still need to iron my Christmas napkins from Labico…Boy is it a busy time, but so much fun.
Have a magical time with your family. Hope this Christmas is just the merriest! XOXO
My daughter told me this week that Christmas Eve dinner is her favorite part of Christmas. It was wonderful to know that all the effort and work is worth it; that we are creating memories for a lifetime!
Elizabeth-
Your table is just beautiful! I also enjoyed Phyllis' post on your gorgeous home.

We're keeping things traditional this year – lots of red and green on the table and the wedding china and crystal finally get used! You are so organized – we're jealous, Elizabeth – and what a fun and festive table.
