Flowers are a bit of a tradition for Mother’s Day. In fact, I believe that Mother’s Day is the single largest holiday for florists.
Flowers are also a bit of a tradition here at Pretty Pink Tulips. The painted kind! Once again, I am thrilled to announce that Kerri Rosenthal is giving one lucky reader a 12×12 original painting of this year’s limited edition or Tulip2K15 as she calls it!
Kerri began painting tulips, early in her career as an artist, inspired from time spent in Holland. As her work began to show up in shelter magazines and become ever more collectable, she decided to limit her tulip paintings to a special collection each Spring. Once they’re gone, they’re gone. Each collection has a different theme, style or color.
This year’s limited edition tulips are rich in majestic purples, with just an edge of black. I’m loving the deep tones.
I asked Kerri to share her thoughts on what Mother’s Day meant to her.
“Mother’s Day — I never really realized how important this day was to me, until I lost my own mother, very suddenly 5 years ago. What her passing has taught me is that we don’t need a special day to celebrate our mother. Life is so unpredictable and we are all so busy running in many directions each day. I cherish every moment I spend with my kids and really try to be present when I am with them. Even if they are not 100% present with me. It is truly a gift to be a mother and sometimes thankless, but always rewarding, even through the toughest times. My children inspire me to be the best mother, wife, friend and painter I can possibly be.”
To have a chance to win Kerri’s original artwork, just leave a comment below on what Mother’s Day means to you!

Even though every day should be a day to celebrate our mothers it is nice for us to set aside a special day to just pause and say thanks to our mothers. Love the tulips!
Mother's Day….so many emotions when I think of this. My own mama, who died many years ago of a brain tumor, my husband's mother who also is in heaven and loved her son and grand daughters so much, and my own daughters who are now mothers themselves. As I watch them, I think that they are so much better mothers than I ever was to them, although they think don't agree. Being a mother is a precious gift and although it is now so commercial, the real message is one of love.
Best, Dotti
Being a mother is the greatest gift I have ever received. I am inspired by my daughter every day and hope that I can set a great example for her and inspire her to be the best she can be.
Mother's Day took on a new meaning to me when my mother passed away years ago. It is a bittersweet day as I remember and pay homage to her
, while celebrating the greatest gift ever–becoming a mother to my three children twenty years ago. To mother's everywhere Happy Mother's Day!
Mother's Day has always been a special day but even more so since I get to watch my daughter as a mother. We have three generations of mothers to celebrate this year.
Mother's day means watching old family movies, looking through photo albums and spending as much time with kids as possible….reflecting how quickly time flies.

Mother's Day and my dad's birthday are within two days of one another. So the day reminds me of just how blessed I am to have two parents that encouraged me to fly on my own. They taught me independence, the importance of a strong work ethic, and the most important priority – family. And now with my children, I get to pass along the wisdom and celebrate our wonderful lives together.
Happy Mother's day to you !
mother's day just gets better each year, since I now have a precious grandchild to also share it with. Being a mother has been a blessing, I could have never imagined, and yet watching my daughter be a fantastic mother, makes it only better. My day with be spent with the family, just doing low key things with them, and just enjoying spending time together. Happy Mothers Day to all.
Happy Mother's Day Elizabeth and thanks to Kerri for the opportunity. I have the perfect spot for this painting, love it!!

Oh and Mother's Day means honoring my 85 year old Mother and praying she will be with us at least another ten years. She is the rock of the family!

I just love Kerri's work! Nothing is more elegant that a tulip, and I love the spin she puts on hers.
Mothers Day means so much to me – it's a day to be grateful for all I learned from my mom. It's also a little bittersweet since she has been ill, but I am beyond thankful that she is still with me and that the essence of her wonderful sweet self is still very much there, so it's a day to love and celebrate her. It's also a day of appreciation – I'm in such awe of my lovely girlfriends and the brilliant job they are doing raising their kids.
I'm looking forward to celebrating my mom – and all the moms – on Sunday. I hope you have such a wonderful visit with yours, Elizabeth, and that your family gives you the royal treatment! XOXO
PS: Enjoy your pretty pink tulips! XOXO
Being a mother is the best thing I have ever done. I am so proud of my kids; the wonderful, thoughtful, loving productive adults that they have made themselves into. They make me proud every day!
I would love this piece of art to hang in the office of my newly built home!

I have blown hot and then cold on many flowers — but never cold for tulips.
Mother's Day is new traditions for our small family, remembering all my mom did for me, keeping my grandmothers' memories in my heart, and not having to cook! God bless all mothers everywhere!
Mothers day is a day when I can really show my mother just how much she means to me and devote a whole day to mom loving!
um, I NEED that purple tulip in my life:) Mother's Day is a day of giving and being thankful, that's what it means to me these days.XX
Kerri's words resonated with me. I lost my mom last year but not a day goes by when I do not think of her…..she taught me the value of hard work but also the importance of fun and laughter. MISS her so much!
Mother's Day is the day to honor our mother's and celebrate how special they are to us. It has also become a day to honor our dear friends, who are also, mothers and let them know how much we admire the mothers that they have become!
I have always admired the tulip paintings…they are fabulous!!!!! The purple is out of this world incredible!!!!!
Mother's Day is bitter sweet for me. I celebrate the joy of my own motherhood, but still miss having my own Mom, who died when I was pregnant with my youngest daughter, 18 years ago. Happy Mother's Day to all – tulips make everything better!
Oh Wow! I am blessed to have an amazing mom with whom I am very close (we talk pretty much every day).
I think the most surprising realization for me when I became a mom was the way I "knew" I would hurl myself in front of a bus for this person I had just met. It's a very different kind of love than the one for your spouse. It is immediate and unconditional.
Thank you for sharing Kerri's lovely words with us! Her artwork is gorg! (as my 15 year old would say for gorgeous).
Hi there Elizabeth, I am back and just doing a bit of catchup. Hope you are well….it means so many things but mostly-
a day to honor my own mother and all the love and sacrifice she has given to make our lives so special
and hopefully if I am really lucky my kids will bestow the same honor upon me, lol.
Wishing YOU a fabulous and enjoyable Mothers Day tomorrow!!
Would love to win this wonderful painting:)
Mother's Day had all new meaning 12 years ago when I became a mother to a baby boy! He has taught and given me so much. Such a joy to see him grow up to be such a smart, kind, sweet and loving boy. I love being his mom!
It is also a day to honor my dear mum – who is so kind, caring, generous and supportive to so many.
We will remember my dear mother-in-law who passed away this year. I was blessed to have had such a special relationship with her.
I'd love to hang the beautiful purple tulips in our home.
Happy Mother's Day!
Mother's Day is a day were I count my incredible blessings. I have two boys, 15 and 12, are a my greatest joys in life. They are the gift I get to open each day as I never know what to expect! This year is extra special because my birthday is May 9th so it's a weekend of celebrations. Adore your blog and this gorgeous painting. Enjoy your Mother's Day! XO – Beth

Mothers Day is a day of sports for me, but my kids definitely step it up a notch and behave a little better than usual.
Mother's Day is lovely – I especially enjoy how excited my four children are to give me the gifts they have made at school, and to prepare and deliver my breakfast in bed. I love Kerri's work and would be thrilled to hang "Tulip2K15" in my home.
Mother's Day is a day to think about my mother more than usual and to wish she was here. I think being a mother is the most important job and I am so blessed to have 3 beautiful children and to look forward this year to seeing my daughter become a mother! Love your blog. It is my second one to check each night! Happy Mother's Day to all you beautiful mothers out there.
It means thanking my mom for everything she has done for us and for spending it with my kiddo.
Mother's Day is a day to pause and be thankful for my family — for my own mother for loving me for 35 years, to my mother-in-law for raising my wonderful husband, and to my three boys for giving me the opportunity to be a Mom. I am thankful every day for my family and grateful that I get to be a Mom myself!
