Yesterday was rainy. Today looks to be about the same. And, though the color in the sky is muted, I find a serenity and calm on those sorts of days. Afternoon tennis was cancelled and I was able to focus on packing the camp trunks and other mundane home chores. But, there is such a beauty in that.
The art of Mississippi painter, Sarah Otts has that beauty. I was introduced to her work by a friend who recently acquired one of her paintings, as she knew I would love it.
Sarah’s art doesn’t knock you over with bold colors, but draws you in and makes you want to look closer at its layers. As an abstract impressionist, Sarah doesn’t make preliminary sketches, but goes where the paint pulls her. It’s emotional. As Sarah says, “My paintings are an illustration of my restless enthusiasm to make the most of every moment of every day.”
I think Sarah, as a young mother of two, is making the very most of every day!
I love the subtle colors and gorgeous texture in her art…thank you for introducing us to this amazing talent!
Elizabeth I love her art and use of the palette knife for color!
Soft, serene, yet so much depth!
