Tonight we’re having a few neighbors over for a casual cocktail party in the garden. We just thought it would be nice for everyone to saunter over after work and enjoy some rosé. But, as with every party I host (large or small), the ideas percolate as the event gets nearer and I find myself tweaking, adding and subtracting until the first guest arrives! A little exhausting and nerve wracking, but that’s just the way I do it. I basically can’t help myself.
So, as I tried to figure out substantial appetizers to serve with all those drinks, I started thinking about what’s in season. That led to farm stands and that led to fresh corn, peaches and lobster. And, that reminded me of my favorite farm stand in East Hampton…Round Swamp.
It is a must stop when you are in the Hamptons and in addition to their farm stand in East Hampton, they added a little market in Bridgehampton, located right behind Bobby Van’s.
What’s inspiring your summer entertaining? I’d love to know!

What time should I be over:) What a wonderful idea…and you could not have gotten luckier with the weather, the horrible humidity seems to be behind us and has made way for a gorgeous batch of weather!
A cocktail party in the garden sounds nothing less than enchanting and I am so with you on the inspiration that can be found at the super charming farm stands.
Enjoy and cheers:)
I'm entertaining in my garden tonight as well!! Alfresco dining and fireside appetizers. Inspired too by summer and serving a tomato salad with basil from my garden, potato salad and thin-sliced London Broil. Hydrangeas from the garden as table centerpiece and can't wait to use my summer china from Anthropologie! Enjoy your evening — sounds fabulous and delicious!! XO
I love that its fabulous! I can send you some tomatoes and peppers from my little farm for it too! xo Karolyn
Elizabeth you are simply the ultimate hostess! Everything looks so delicious! The corn crostini's are a must on my list now!

Your menu is positively splendid!! I love the mini lobster rolls and I am constantly craving corn this time of year. I'm sure your guests were delighted.
I am sure it was a perfect evening…your menu sounded divine! Having spent last week enjoying the many farm stands in the Hamptons, I can see why you were inspired by them. Thanks for sharing your plans for this magical night! xoxo
