For more than 10 years, I’ve made a point to stop by the Kips Bay Show House in NYC. Mega talented interior designers, from around the country, take on the task of transforming a blank canvas into a show stopping space…all for a great cause. The year, there was one room that stood out to me. Ken Fulk’s dining room, for which he created a back story and a cast of characters. Set on the Upper East Side, circa 1968, Fulk’s heroine, Madame F. entertains friends and a menagerie of zoo animls that are seeking refuge in her garden.
Fulk is known for his over-the-top theatrics and his laser beam attention to detail. Both elements are on full display in his space, known as Madame’s Magical Menagerie. Leopards and tigers and giraffes….oh my!
So the next time you host a dinner party…channel your inner Ken Fulk and you’re sure to create a memorable experience for your guests!
The room is even better in person, so if you have a half hour, be sure and stop by to see it!
