I’m often asked where out-of-town visitors should go in NYC. Thought I’m not in the city all that often, I do keep a running list of favorite places or those I’d like to check out.
Fall in the city is when it seems to come alive. The trees in Central Park are changing hues, there is a briskness to the air that matches the pace of New Yorkers and it’s the perfect time of year to bundle up and walk the streets.
Given that, I would head to the 3 John Derian shops in the East Village and the new, tiny outpost at 18 Christopher St. There is such an artistry to the way John puts together his shops. Of course you will find his eponymous decoupage, but so much more to decorate your home or to give as gifts.
Sometimes its nice just to wander and get lost among pretty things!
