With Earth Day celebrated this week, we probably all have a little more of a focus on the environment! I know that I can’t help think about it when the all the cherry and pear blossom trees are blooming and my tulips are pushing up.
As you know, I love the aesthetic side of nature, but I am becoming more attuned to the ways I can be more protective and nurturing of it, too! I’ve converted to stainless straws and am accustomed to taking my reusable bags to the grocery. There is still much I can do.
Along those lines, it is my great pleasure to introduce you to my friend, Sara Goddard, who also happens to be my garden club pal, city councilwoman and all-around sustainability guru. Sara has just started a lifestyle blog, Green That Life, that focuses on sustainable living and shares resources and practical tips.
If you are interested in learning more about what Sara has done to help our coastal town or other related topics, such as food waste, pollution prevention, waste reduction or anything to improve the environment around you, please check it out!
We’ve only got one planet, so it makes sense to treat it right! Thank you, Sara, for all you do!
Thank you for this post, Elizabeth. I’ve become more aware of the amount of plastic that is used in our day to day living. I recycle all of my plastic, and in California, the plastic that is thrown into the recycling bin has to be clean and dry, so I wash it all just as if I were hand washing my dishes. What a job! It’s everywhere in our food chain – frozen foods, produce bags, pre-wrapped foods. Even when I go to the Butcher counter, they package fish in plastic. And I’m just talking food related products. there is also every other consumer item that is encased in plastic. I wonder how many people stop to think about the petroleum products that they now weave into the fabric when clothes are manufactured – and athletic shoes. The list is never ending!
