I’m always amazed at the things we’ve done when I look back.
Many of my favorite memories have been made on vacation. Whether it’s exploring new places, celebrating a milestone birthday, connecting with friends or just taking time to relax…travel is the gift you give yourself.
Here are some of my favorite trips of the past 9 years. If you click on the highlighted location, you can go to a post that will give you more details on where we stayed and what we did.
Nantucket, featured above, was a revelation! Many of our friends go every summer with their families, but we had never been. So, my husband and I took advantage of a summer week when our boys were at camp to check out this heralded little island.London is such an easy trip from New York. I had not been since my 20s, so it was fun to take our sons and see things through new eyes.
I’ve just recently gone to Paris, but this post features our trip with our young sons. I feel like Paris has really been through the wringer lately, but it is a place I would still advise visiting with children. They do love children and we made it easy by staying in an apartment. I would highly recommend that!
Rome was another favorite trip! We took our sons and also visited Florence and Tuscany. My youngest has been studying Latin for the past few years…I wonder if this inspired him!
For my husband’s recent milestone birthday, we organized a couples’ ski trip to Aspen. What fun!!
I’m just back from a 2nd trip to Miami at the Faena hotel. I love this hotel experience by visionary Alan Faena. The new Faena Bazaar is a wonderful addition to this part of Miami.
For my birthday a couple of year’s ago, my husband and I went to the Amalfi Coast. I spent my actual birthday on the island of Capri and can’t wait to return to this little slice of heaven!
We only spent a few days in Positano, but it really made an impression. My husband says his favorite hotel of all time is Le Sirenuse…and I may agree!
Another all time favorite place is Ravello, high above the Amalfi Coast. I highly recommend spending a few days here if you are going to be in that area. It is a sun drenched, elegant city set high above the sea.
Finally, a took a solo trip to Seattle to see friends and found that traveling alone has its advantages!
Ultimately, travel expands the mind and the heart and allows you to escape from your every day life. Wishing you happy trails wherever they take you!
