I love a party…especially a birthday party. And, I REALLY love throwing a birthday party for my children or friends. So, I was immediately touched when I learned about The Birthday Party Project. The mission is simple: Bring JOY to homeless children through the magic of birthdays.

About to celebrate it’s 5th birthday, The Birthday Party Project will host over 315 parties this year. I love that Halo Home by KWS will donate party hats for a birthday for each set of their “party hat” cocktail napkins that are sold.  I think this may be my favorite birthday gift for friends this coming year.

In addition, there are many ways you can support this incredible group. Just go to their website to learn more.

Bowling Birthday Party

We celebrated a birthday in our house this weekend. My youngest son turned 12, so we decided to take him and his group of friends bowling! The activity was set and the menu was fixed (pizza, hot dogs and french fries), so all I really needed to contribute were the cupcakes and the favors.

As I have with so many other parties, I worked with Sweet Lisa’s in Cos Cob, CT to create bowling motif cupcakes and cookies for the favor bags. I found inspiration on Pinterest and then tweaked it for our party.img_0185img_0179 Favors are just a fun way to wrap up a party. I love them for any type of gathering. For Tyler’s party, I included the bowling pin cookie, pop rocks, glow sticks (it was glow in the dark bowling) and a happy face bouncy ball. Just fun little things.img_0178 img_0208 Putting this party together was definitely a ball for me!

Party in Purple

IMG_8272Finding a starting place for a party is part of the fun. An anniversary,  a favorite food or region, a holiday or season or in this case…a favorite color. Purple! I love it when someone has a favorite color because it is an easy jumping off point for parties and gifts. Not everyone has a favorite color, I have found. And, I think that’s rather interesting.

Here’s a sneak peek at a little party for a friend who loves purple. From the bar cart to the dinner table to the party favors of potted hyacinths….purple was center stage.IMG_8273 IMG_8275 IMG_8276IMG_8277

Do YOU have a favorite color of theme you’d want a party to center around? I’m always looking for inspiration, so please share!
