Book Review: Mr Ken Fulk’s It’s a Magical World

img_0436Ken Fulk is part interior designer, part special event planner, part architect, part magician, and part ringmaster! Working out of a fantasy-like space in San Francisco, dubbed the Magic Factory, Ken Fulk and his team of “magic makers” have made a life and a career out of dreaming big and delivering bigger.

This gorgeous book,  takes you into the worlds Ken has created – homes that he has completely renovated and decorated and then welcomed the families back with a theme party that fits the decor –the fantasy wedding “in the woods” for Facebook’s Sean Parker–a bagel “emporium” in NYC — a private ski chalet/mid mountain retreat, a monumental masquerade….and much, much more.

With over 200 images of stunning homes and dreamy events, along with background shared by Ken of each project, I found myself inspired to create my own fantastical fetes and experiences. This is a chance to go inside the mind of a creative genius.

Ken is about the idea, the delivery and the details….lots and lots of details.img_0438 img_0440 img_0441 img_0442 img_0443 img_0444 img_0445 img_0446img_0447 img_0448 img_0449What a fabulous  book to add to your library or to give as a gift, especially if it’s to a fun-loving, adventurous friend with a sense of humor and an eye for detail!

Holiday Gift Guide – Books for Everyone

Screen Shot 2015-12-08 at 9.29.51 PMThere are few people who don’t appreciate a beautiful book in a topic close to their heart. And, there’s a book for everyone.

For the Entertainer in your life…inspiration from fashion designer by day/entertaining maven by night (and fellow Texan), Lela Rose, in Pret-A-Party.

unnamedFor your friend who loves color and inherited her grandmother’s best silver and china…Modern Mix, by Eddie Ross, is a step-by-colorful-step on how to put the glam in grandma’s things!deliciously-ella-9781476793283_hrFor the sister who is sticking with her gluten-free/dairy-free diet, but could use some tips on jazzing up dinner, Deliciously Ella, has the photos that will inspire and recipes that you can follow. I’ve tried them, loved them…and I’m not even gluten-free!

She created Olivia Pope and McDreamy, so Shonda Rhimes knows a thing or two about making things happen. Year of Yes…what a fun book for 2016!

At-Home-in-the-Garden-Cover-MediumFor the gardener or just the most elegant person you know…Carolyne Roehm’s newest tome, At Home in the Garden, is sure to have prime placement on their coffee table.

Now, I’m guessing that most of you order your books from Amazon and have them delivered. But, if you like supporting your local bookstore (and I do!), you can wrap your book with pizazz and love and mail it via Media Mail through USPS for a very small amount. You may have known about this, but somehow I just learned about it. As long as the package just contains a book….you are set!

Don’t forget the bookmark!
