3 Quick Holiday Treats to Make

38With never ending lists this month, I love a good short cut wherever I can find it. Especially in the kitchen! I love these 3 quick and easy ideas for stand out holiday treats – perfect for when friends or family are coming over. The ladies at Camille Styles show 3 ways to dress up a store bought cake. Above is their take by adding holiday cookies – which I think has great impact.

I’m off on some Christmas adventures with my youngest son this weekend, so wishing you joyful times with those you love.

Stay Calm….and Keep Wrapping, Decorating, Entertaining

How is it almost mid-December?! My, how this month has flown!!

In preparing for houseguests later this month, I’m really trying to get everything done. Now. Sometimes a deadline is just what you need to make things happen. Whether it’s setting the table, ordering or making cookies (use them as place cards) or just getting presents wrapped….anything I can do before they arrive will help me enjoy the holidays. Easy for me to say, as I’ve still got our holiday cards in a box on my dining room table. I need to get them mailed, so I can actually set the table.

In the meantime…here are a few shots of how things are looking around our house.

Check out what I and other bloggers are loving for holiday traditions, best holiday song, ideal hostess gifts, girlfriend gifts and Christmas Day outfits on The Enchanted Home. I love learning what other folks are doing for the holidays, so hop over and check it out!

Stay calm….and keep on wrapping!!

Cookie Swap

When I was young, my mom would bake many different kinds of cookies for our Christmas Open House. Pecan sandies, pressed cookies decorated with colored sugar and gingerbread boys with red hots and icing.

One of my activities with my boys after they get out of school for the holiday will be decorating sugar cookies. I doubt they’ll look as good as these, but half the fun is just being in the kitchen together with those sweet and buttery smells wafting all around.

So, whether you have a cookie swap to attend, need to drop off something for the neighbors or just want some ideas of what you can do at home, here are some of my favorites!

Do you have a favorite family recipe? I’d love to know!

Here’s to a sweet week!
