The Birthday Party Project

I love a party…especially a birthday party. And, I REALLY love throwing a birthday party for my children or friends. So, I was immediately touched when I learned about The Birthday Party Project. The mission is simple: Bring JOY to homeless children through the magic of birthdays.

About to celebrate it’s 5th birthday, The Birthday Party Project will host over 315 parties this year. I love that Halo Home by KWS will donate party hats for a birthday for each set of their “party hat” cocktail napkins that are sold.  I think this may be my favorite birthday gift for friends this coming year.

In addition, there are many ways you can support this incredible group. Just go to their website to learn more.

A Political Party

IRHandler-1One thing you may not guess about me is that I’m a bit of a news/political junkie. I like to be informed. I watched both conventions. I think our votes matter. And, if there’s ever been a year to have a front row seat….this is the year. Who knows where things will end up in November, but as of today, it’s a cage match.

So….thinking ahead, this is the year to think about hosting an Election Night party in November. Julia B. has created the perfect cocktail napkins for the occassion. Whether you’re with “Her”, feeling the “Bern”, or want to “Make America Great Again”, we are all in this country together and whoever wins this election….WE must live and work together. IRHandler-2International relations are also a key part of this election…so Julia has you covered there, too!

IRHandler-3 IRHandler

Yesterday, was the birthday of one of our country’s favorite first lady’s…Jackie Kennedy…and she had 4 key pieces of advice for hostesses. You can find them here!

Whatever your beliefs are….let’s celebrate that we all have a voice and a choice! Let the general election begin!

As They Say Down South…

Thank goodness….it’s not only the weekend, it’s a L-O-N-G weekend! This time of year is so busy that I can’t remember where I’m supposed to be and what I’m supposed to do. My brain needs a break. So, I plan on doing a lot of nothing for the next few days.

But, thinking ahead to the next time I entertain, I was charmed by the “southern sayings” I found at Reese Witherspoon’s new venture, Draper James
I can literally hear myself speaking the words on these cocktail napkins that Reese debuted at a Southern-style luncheon for her new company.
And, as a Texan now living in the Northeast…this one had me in stitches!

Y’all know it’s true!

Have the best time this weekend and keep it pretty!
