The New “It Bag” – Bergen Bags

Screen Shot 2017-03-09 at 8.29.15 AMThe hottest bag out there right now isn’t a Birkin bag…it’s a Bergen bag. Yes, as in Candice.

It all started when Ms. Bergen’s daughter asked her to paint on her Louis Vuitton duffle. She posted the results on Instagram and the rest as they say….was history. Since last summer, Candice has been taking orders and painting up a storm. She loves that she is doing something new at age 70. And, I love that, too!

If you have a bag that you’ve had a while, why not send it to Candice and have her personalize it. Instant conversation piece and treasure! More info can be found at!Screen Shot 2017-03-09 at 8.06.43 PM

BudhaGirl – Mindful Glamour

Intentions create outcomes.

The power of positive thinking and prayer are things we teach our children.

Quieting the mind for a few moments each day can bring us greater calm. We know all of this, but sometimes forget to put it into practice.

That is one of the key tenets that first drew me to BudhaGirl.

This is a company that is dedicated to mindful glamour by creating beautiful objects and glamorous jewelry that turn routines into rituals. Each of us has our own personal way or order of getting ready for the day or an evening out…BudhaGirl has created a fashionable, iconic line that helps you create intention, purpose and mindfulness.

Whether you choose a spiritual reminder or a touchstone that focuses your thoughts that day on guidance, clarity, friendship, family, compassion or forgiveness, quieting the mind and focusing your thoughts can set your day on the right path.

You can place your reminder in a secret compartment in a pendant or cuff (available in various colors), to keep it close to you all day long.

The crochet necklaces are new and come in a variety of colors.

Love these silk cord wrist wraps, which can also be worn as a necklace.

I’ll be ordering the stingray shagreen wrist wraps in cream and pink (no surprise) with the lotus end caps, which symbolize friendship.
I’ve been wearing my set of all-weather gold bangles day and night, thanks to my re-introduction to BudhaGirl by Dallas blogger and new friend, Albertina of the stylish, chic blog, Mimosa Lane!
I especially love how they aren’t metal, so they don’t clink and clank as I type or move about. They are also perfect for travel…you won’t be standing in the security line having to remove them. They also have them in silver!

Kind of dying over this set of rainbow colored suede chakra wrist wraps…just $36 for the set. (Cartier love bracelet not included).

Silver bangles mixed with the black silk wrist wrap pops against white.

These crochet rosaries are hand knitted in Mexico by a collective of retired school maintenance women.

These are just a few of the glamorous products that combine meaning and adornment, so check out the entire line. Thanks to the team at BudhaGirl, they are giving my readers 15% off any purchases for the next week. The code is BDGPPT! So, go explore!

What’s your intention for the weekend? I’m focusing on family, friends and faith.

Friday Fashion: 3 Fab Boutiques

Last week, I promised to open up my little black book of fashion sources.

These are the shops that aren’t just setting the trends, they are informing it. They know how to mix and accessorize and help you pull everything together to look your best. They are on Instagram, Pinterest and blogs sharing their finds as they go through Fashion Week and alert you when new items arrive in store. They can be your secret style weapon.

First up is my favorite Southern source, Capitol, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Owner, Laura Vinroot Poole has created an oasis of style, akin to the best edited dream closet. I find that what Laura buys for the store is what I’ll begin seeing other places a couple of seasons later. If you’re ever in Charlotte, you have to stop in. And, if you just want to receive a great education in what’s hot and how to put it together, you can follow the Capitol team on their blog or via Pinterest.

Next up is a home town favorite. Canary (and it’s casual big sister, Cabana) in Dallas, Texas. Cabana, which started as a part time boutique in a cabana in Merry Vose’s backyard became the meeting place for fashion savvy Texans. Just being there made you happy. The price points, usually under $550, also made it feel more accessible.

Now, Merry has added Canary, focusing on emerging designers. I love following the Canary team on Instagram!

Finally, I can hardly believe my luck that Angela Guitard decided that Rye, New York (my town!) was where she wanted to open her designer boutique, Angela’s. This shop has a little more edge than the other 2 above. But, hey…it’s New York and things ARE a little edgier up here.

Angela’s is another dream closet, so it can be dangerous to visit too often!! From evening wear and resort wear, classic pieces you’ll wear for years, the perfect fitting jeans and sumptuous cashmere from Italy to statement jewelry and vintage Chanel, Angela’s is a one-stop shop for fabulousness! If you want to keep up with this shop, follow along on Instagram or their blog

Once all the snow melts and I can get out of my daily uniform of head-to-toe black, I’m excited to pull out some of my latest finds and welcome Spring!

Happy Friday and happy fashion!
