I love a party…especially a birthday party. And, I REALLY love throwing a birthday party for my children or friends. So, I was immediately touched when I learned about The Birthday Party Project. The mission is simple: Bring JOY to homeless children through the magic of birthdays.

About to celebrate it’s 5th birthday, The Birthday Party Project will host over 315 parties this year. I love that Halo Home by KWS will donate party hats for a birthday for each set of their “party hat” cocktail napkins that are sold.  I think this may be my favorite birthday gift for friends this coming year.

In addition, there are many ways you can support this incredible group. Just go to their website to learn more.

Veterans Day – Dine Out for Heroes

dine-out-for-heroes-logoIt’s time to come together. And, what better cause than our military heros. This Friday, on Veterans Day, consider joining one of the many NYC restaurants, such as Nobu, the Lambs Club, Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse, Butter, Beauty & Essex, Chez Josephine, BLT Steak and more that will be contributing money to the Bob Woodruff Foundation.

The foundation invests in programs that benefit our nation’s heros. The mission of the Bob Woodruff Foundation is to create long-lasting positive outcomes for our nation’s wounded, ill and injured veterans, service members and their families.dofhdofh-bannerNew Yorkers and visitors to the Big Apple have big appetites, but even bigger hearts. If you’re eating out on Friday….think about supporting those who make our freedom possible. You can find the entire list of participating restaurants here.

Shine the Light on Giving

It’s no secret that I am a fan and a collector of glassybaby. Over the years, I have added to my collection as a color spoke to me and have received gifts from friends.
When I want to give something meaningful to someone, it is often what I turn to. For something so small, it packs a big illuminating punch. It’s one of the few gifts that is handmade, goes with any decor, is pretty as is and even prettier all lit up. And, I love that it is a gift that doesn’t diminish with use. How many things can you say that about? Not many.
As the main tenet of glassybaby is that they give back for every one that is purchased, I often like to find one that fits a charity that would be meaningful to the recipient. Do any of these resonate with you?

The world seems to have a lot of pockets of darkness….it can’t hurt to create more light!
