Happy Halloween

img_4500Who else is relieved Halloween is on a Monday?! I’m all for the fun, but it does make it a little easier knowing that it’s on a school night!

One exciting event happened in our house last week that will make this a Halloween to remember….my youngest got his braces off, after having them on for 4 years. And, he’s a big fan of all those gummy things!

As one son has outgrown trick-or-treating and the other is nearing the end of that childhood right of passage, I thought I’d take a trip through the years and the costumes.img_1095dsc_0045 dsc_0103img_7632 dsc_0051 dsc_0017 img_0426 img_4568 img_7626 img_0357Whether you’re dressing up little ones or handing out candy….may it be a fun and safe Halloween. And, I wish you a few pieces of your favorite candy!

It’s here….a night of costumes and candy. One of my sons has had his costume since August. The other…well, he still doesn’t know what he’s going as. Even a last minute trip to Party City – yes, yes, the line wrapped around the store – could not yield a suitable outfit. I get it…you get to an age where you feel funny dressing up. But, you feel funny if you don’t. He’ll figure it out.

Here’s a look back at Halloween’s past and present.

I hope your weekend is simply Spooktacular!!!!

Cookie Cutter Week

It’s the countdown to Halloween, and I’m preparing to have a “cookies cutter” week! My sons and I will be baking sugar cookies in the shape of these bats and ghosts. Jenne Steffens Hobick of Everyday Occasions designs a new set of copper cookie cutters for each season, so these are new this year. The cutters are heirloom quality so that you can pass them down, along with the recipes!

Jenne has even begun packaging the icing sugars and sprinkles that she’s known for. In a very generously sized glass jar. In addition, she has a fabulous line up of packaging materials, so that you can order everything you need to make your own special batch and share them with friends!

Here’s to a week that isn’t too batty! Have fun with every occasion, including Halloween!
