Refined Design – Morgan Harrison Home

screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-10-37-31-pmMorgan Harrison is a full service interior design firm that I learned about from a friend, who is building a new home. She has had such wonderful things to say about Michelle Morgan Harrison and her team. It sounds like the process has gone very smoothly and that is key when you are working together for months on end. Morgan Harrison likes to say they are “pillar to pillow”, meaning their services include interior design, construction oversight, kitchen and bathroom design and space planning. This team is known for their ability to blend classic and modern influences, so that new homes may feel as if they have an “old soul”.

Here is a sampling from a number of their projects.screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-10-38-01-pmscreen-shot-2016-10-18-at-10-39-43-pmscreen-shot-2016-10-18-at-9-45-31-pm screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-9-53-39-pm screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-9-46-05-pm screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-9-46-11-pm screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-9-46-31-pm screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-9-47-05-pm screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-9-47-24-pm screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-9-47-36-pmscreen-shot-2016-10-18-at-9-58-06-pm screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-9-49-02-pm screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-9-49-55-pm screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-9-50-02-pm screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-9-50-30-pm screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-9-50-57-pm screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-9-57-03-pmIf you have a project on the horizon, you might want to check out this team!

Lux Holdups – Lucite Designs

il_570xn-757139583_97rnI came across an article I had torn out of the Wall Street Journal and it (along with a conversation with a friend in search of some lucite curtain rods) prompted me to share this today. Lux Holdups, created by Ashley Platt in 2013, is creating stylish and useful lucite home decor. Think curtain rods, towel rods, side tables, closet tabs, drawer pulls….or anything else you can dream up that is clear and shiny!

To the trade or directly to you, Ashley and her team are creating lucite fashions at their factory in Brooklyn, NY. il_570xn-739621583_f379 il_570xn-742575606_d3nqil_570xn-1004616762_hupu il_570xn-739575973_i3v5 il_570xn-815419505_ep8v il_570xn-923094635_eu2k il_570xn-945424212_bd97 il_570xn-1107924417_ps29It’s clear to me that Ashely is really on to something!

Designer Spotlight: Melissa Rufty

prewar1Some things are worth revisiting. Such is the interior design work of Melissa Rufty. I’ve admired her take on design for many years, so thought it was worth sharing one of her more recent projects. This pre-war residence is bathed in elegance, sophistication and the perfectionistic details that elevate it to magazine worthy status. Yet, it feels approachable.

Melissa has a way of combining colors, styles and textures that is “just right”. You feel that she’s an artist and textiles, furnishings, accessories and art are her tools. We can learn a lot about styling from watching the way she balances a tabletop and the selections she makes.prewar2 prewar3 prewar4 prewar5 prewar6 prewar8 prewar9 prewar10 prewar11 prewar12 prewar13 prewar14 prewar16 prewar17For more eye candy, check out more of Melissa’s work on her website!
