First stop on Friday night’s 2nd Annual Fashion Night Out…was Barneys! And, right as we walked in the front door, there were Anna and Grace. This was as close as I would get to Ms. Wintour that night. Legendary doll designer, Andrew Yang, had been commissioned by Barneys to craft these 2 fashion icons in the form of his Kouklitas dolls.

The Kouklitas are a line of 27″ fashion dolls conceived by the New York City based artist and illustrator. Each doll is cut from a pattern, sewn into muslin and meticulously stuffed and attached by hand. The faces are all hand painted, and the dresses are created using luxurious fabrics and couture sewing methods.
To me, they seem like Madame Alexander dolls for grown up fashionistas. Gorgeous. For an over the top gift, Mr. Wang can create a custom doll for you.
While Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen got cozy with Barney’s Simon Doonan, we were heading downtown….where Karen Elson, the face of the 2010 Fall line for Balenciaga, was about to take the stage with her band for a performance at the Balenciaga boutique. This, as it turned out….was the place to be!

And, while I would not see Ms. Wintour at this event, there is the legendary Vogue creative director, Grace Coddington standing next to Balenciaga designer, Nicolas Ghesquiere. Truly, it was a night to remember!
The only irony is….I didn’t shop at all!
Did you do anything out of the ordinary this weekend?
Ooooooo, sounds like so much fun…I bet your girls from Texas had a blast! You were "shopping" you just weren't "buying":):) Gretchen O.
Window shopping at it's best! How fun it must have been to be in the same room as fashion royalty and those dolls are fabulous! xxoo
So glad to hear you've kicked off the city visit TEXAS SIZED! Fashion plates, living dolls, and a night to remember. How chic! XX, Kelly
And to think…I just cleaned out my closet this weekend lol looks like a great night!
Sounds so fun!! I love NYC and the fashion world…those dolls are hilarious!
Elizabeth,
Sounds and looks like a night to remember! Here's what I did out of the norm this weekend…ate a meal with my children at the Westchester Airport so that my son could watch airplanes land and take off…food was not gourmet, but he was beyond thrilled!
Many years ago, I volunteered and I was the "coat check" gal and took Anna's coat – which was gorgeous…
hmmm. out of the ordinary – does jumping in a kiddie castle count?
pve
Watching planes take off and land – is always a thrill. Too sweet.
Anna's caot – I'll bet it also smelled divine.
And, just think how great that closet looks. That's what I need to be doing!

Indeed, it smelled incredibly posh….
I have a little something for you which I will drop by your door one day this week….

Sounds like a fun girls-night-out in the big apple!
Looks like such a great time! Thanks for following me and I'm now following you as well. xo
Hi Elizabeth ~ Gosh,
YOU are always where
the action is, my
friend : ) !! I was
in Chicago visiting
my friend Kathleen,
who started chemo last
Wednesday. It wasn't
an ordinary weekend,
but it was truly a good
one in so many ways.
Got home last night and
it's back to the hustle
and bustle! Hope your
week is off to a great
start.
xx Suzanne
Love that you did a post on the dolls! They are so completely over the top and really compelling! Sounds like you had a great time…you can shop any time, this was really an experience…thanks for sharing it here!
Sounds like so much fun. Just the kind of thing I would love to do. My weekend was filled with work, not nearly as exciting as yours.
What fun! Those dolls are perfect. I got to taste a bit of Fashion Night in Chicago! Found some boots for walking. The best part was running along Lakeshore-my fav place on a sunny day.
Those dolls are so creative! Love it….especially the red haired one in the red dress!
Oh you little hob-knobber you!
Just fabulous.

I was lucky enough to be at "Fashion Night Out" too. What a blast! I didn't do any shopping either–too busy partying!!!
Susan
Sounds like it was a fab night! I was sitting not so far from Ms. Wintour at the US Open on Saturday. She looked impeccable even while sweltering in the heat!
