What comes to mind when you see those famous interlocking Cs? Luxe? Quality? Coco? Expensive?
All of the above for me. Which is why owning a Chanel suit is on my wish list. Just a simple black suit. But, they are expensive so it’s not something that I’ve just purchased.
Today, I went to consign a few things…shoes and bags that were just sitting in my closet looking pretty. And, I had just about made it to the door when the Chanel section caught my eye. I should at least look, right? Well….no simple black suit. However, there were skirts. In my size.
And they fit. No alterations necessary and they did feel luxe…and well made.
The best part? They cost about what you’d pay for a skirt at that other well known, albeit newer American designer whose initials we all now know.
Elizabeth,
Years ago, 20 plus, I purchased a black Chanel Suit.
I must admit, it was an investment yet also a reward for my first bonus when I worked as a designer. To this day, the jacket fits like a glove and I love wearing it with jeans.
The other day, I gave a tube of Chanel lipstick to a dear friend for her birthday in a wee Chanel black bag and she loved it. There is something about Chanel that makes me feel special, ladylike with moxie.
– Reward yourself with something special.
Celebrate, dab a little Chanel, don a little Chanel and feel the strength of a woman whose style endures.

Good for you! I own one Chanel suit which I bought about 6 years ago, I covet and enjoy it..just wish I fit into it right now:) Its a classic, not black but a tweed and it is fabulous. I feel like a million dollars when I have it on…..there is indeed that Chanel charm that you cannot help but feel when you wear the clothing. The weight and luxuriousness of the fabrics is unmistakable. Now Chanel bags, thats a whole other story..lets just say I definitely have more than one!
Ah! Chanel…Chic et élégant! J'adore Chanel…A Chanel suit is on my wish list for sure…But at the moment I treat myself with their fabulous make-up line…I love my Chnael blush and lipstick! Makes me feel so glam….

Awesome! Just love a score! Where do you consign stuff? I would like to stop by!

Would love to own a YSL Muse bag or even a Birkin if we're really dreaming!
xxoo
Sounds like a great find! Enjoy!
You can never have too much Chanel-whether it's a little hit of chic from some new nail polish, a long-saved for suit, or that fantastic find at a consignment store or flea market. Congratulations on your successful treasure hunt! Sounds like it was made for you! XO
Can you believe I have never been in a consignment shop? Perhaps, I will have to go with you sometime? I know you have great taste and great style, so you would only buy if it were fabulous…I must see!
I've never been in a consignment (clothes) shop either. Maybe I need too. A local mom was recently selling her designer bags on our mom's listserve. I was tempted….
Consignment shops and Junior League Shops are a wonderful resource for designer finds. Lucky you to find a Chanel skirt. There is something about the cachet of Chanel. A Chanel suit is still on my wish list, so for now, I placate myself w/ a well-tailored Chanel-style jacket.
If it is of any help, I consign my things at Roundabout in Greenwich, CT, which is where I found the 2 Chanel skirts. They had jackets, pants, etc…just not in my size.
They are an amazing resource. They have been highlighted on Martha Stewart's show…as I believe she has consigned things there is well. They also have a NYC shop. Sometimes they receive designer pieces in that have never been worn. Always worth a look!!
And, Susie…Clotheshorse Anonymous was always the place to take/find consignments in Big D. Preston Forest area.
Good luck, savvy shoppers!

Oh yes we are in a Chanel mood! You should buy that skirt! You will not regret it. Any little bit of Chanel that I own makes me feel like a million dollars 🙂 xoxo
Fabulous! What a fun find! xx
What a lucky find – nothing quite as timeless and elegant as a Chanel suit…heavenly!!
Nice work girlfriend! I rarely have time to hunt down the bargains, but when I find one… oh so exciting!!
Enjoy!

Can you believe that the only Chanel purchase I've ever made was some silvery blush!? Poor me! I've never even tried on a piece of Chanel. I did just purchase a gorgeous black St. John mid-hip sweater blazer that makes me look about 2 sizes smaller and much richer…ha! I bought it at a local consignment store, here in town. I think I can do just about any consigned item except shoes. I have to draw the line somewhere!
Barbara,
St John is fabulous – I'm sure you look amazing in your new blazer!
And, I'm with you….I draw the line at shoes, too!!!

Good lord. I have been to plenty of consignment shops, but NEVER have I found a Chanel anything.
