You know when you keep seeing something or being drawn to something that it is a sign that it is “speaking to you”. Well…that’s the way I feel about the artwork of Wayne Pate.
Classical and whimsical at the same time, there is a Matisse-like vibe to his artwork that just pulls me in. Originally from Texas (you gotta love those Texans), he has lived in New York since the 1990’s, and currently resides in Brooklyn with his wife, fashion designer, Rebecca Taylor, and their 3 daughters.
Largely self taught, Pate begins his work in his sketchbook, concentrating on lines and imbuing his work with a sense of movement. A favorite of interior designers and collectors, you may have seen his work in Lonny, various galleries or One Kings Lane, which is where I picked up 2 of his pieces (Tulips and Garden Scene, No 1).
Recently tapped to lend his take to the 2017 Tory Burch Resort collection….I think we may be seeing more of and more colloborations with Wayne Pate! He’s definitely one to watch!
Here’s to an artful week ahead!
I love his art! Thanks for sharing!! xoxo
