Dolls aren’t just for children anymore.
Jess Brown has long been inspired by beautiful textiles and began creating rag dolls for her children 15 years ago, using cashmere and antique remnants that she would find. Over time, her dolls garnered more and more attention and she formalized her business in 2012. Each year, she creates some limited edition collections with other designers, so it was her collaboration with Jenna Lyons of J. Crew that finally drew me in.
As you probably know…I have two sons. No daughters. So, girly things are left to me. Could I actually buy a doll….for myself? I decided yes….I could. And, I must confess, it’s probably not my last.
I liken these hand made dolls to 3 dimenstional works of art….each unique, definitely collectible. You can choose the color of the muslin and add accessories, if you like. A perfect gift for the little or big girl in your life.
That’s my Coco. I absolutely love her, as she reminds me of my mother’s china dolls. And, I know that I will definitely take better care of her than I did the dolls of my youth. Most of those are missing limbs or hair. This doll will hopefully look as good when a future grandchild loves on her. And, in the meantime…I’ll pretend she’s mine.
