I’ve read some good books this summer, but the one that has jumped to the top of the stack is Kate Schelter’s Classic Style.
I thought it would be a light romp, peppered with her art (which I adore), but it was something much more deep. Part stylist tips, part life hacks….Kate shares her life, her path and the nuggets that she felt were most important to pass along. And, of course, her whimsical watercolors are found throughout.
I’ve always been drawn to artists and creatives….and Kate is no different. With a background at Vogue, assisting Annie Leibovitz on photo shoots, as an artist and illustrator, a stylist a brand expert….her careers and life experiences are not only fascinating, but worth learning from.
I love to see what creative people surround themselves with, so was delighted to find these photos of Kate’s current home with her husband, Chris and daughter, Charlotte. Bright, happy, colorful and full of personality…I was tickled to see there was a heavy dose of pink. I even spotted my favorite pink tulips.Perfect to read and keep, but also perfect to give…Classic Style is the kind of book that you’ll enjoy now, reach for later and will stand the test of time. As Kate says…”Hand it down, dress it up, wear it out.”
