I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling a little overwhelmed with all the negativity in the world. From actual earthquakes (and hurricanes) to figurative ones in the social and political realms, it seems like everyone needs to take a deep breath. Think before you speak (or tweet), lend a hand not a fist and find beauty wherever we can.
Artists are at the top of my list for creating calm in a chaotic world. They can say volumes without writing a word. And, I’m especially drawn to soothing pieces at this time. That was what pulled me in to the work of Maryland artist, Eric Abrecht. Focusing primarily on landscapes, Abrecht works conceptionally, drawing on life experiences and allows a subject to evolve as he paints.
Another interesting aspect of Abrecht’s work is that he doesn’t title each piece, as it “allows the viewer to apply their own feelings and experiences to each piece, without bias.” The artist wants the person looking at his work to have a different impression or reaction that the person standing next to them. Perspective. We each have one that is unique.
Wishing you a week of calm, even if it seems like a storm outside!
Arecht has caught the amazement you can feel watchin a stem. Hope your week is peaceful and calm.
